Used 2021 Chevrolet Traverse for Sale nearBuffalo, NY

How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse cost?

Prices have softened 13.24% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,098 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare by trim, mileage, and condition.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 5/5, and our experts give it 6.67/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, excellent driving experience, strong value for money, and the power it delivers. That lines up well with the Traverse’s role as a three-row crossover for larger families, where space and everyday usability matter most.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert review calls out poor handling and cheap-feeling interior materials, and it also notes poor value for money relative to rivals. In practical terms, you should view it as a family-first SUV that works best when passenger room and comfort matter more than polish or sharp dynamics.

The model’s mission is straightforward: it’s aimed at shoppers who want a roomy, comfortable three-row SUV with familiar SUV packaging and available all-wheel drive. In that context, it makes sense if you prioritize utility over luxury.

With 36.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as dependable and trouble-free in the ways that matter most for family use, with strong praise for the spacious cabin and the confidence it inspires over time. The expert review also emphasizes that the Traverse is still a fairly fresh design, which can help support long-term ownership confidence.

On the dependability side, the powertrain is straightforward: a single V6 paired with a nine-speed automatic, which keeps the mechanical formula simple. The warranty coverage is average for the segment, so used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance records and overall condition.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about complexity and more about buying a neglected example, so a careful inspection and service-history review are important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Traverse?

At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or lower-priced example. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the features and driver-assistance equipment work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Traverse L gets 18-inch wheels, while higher trims can wear 20-inch wheels and add more cosmetic differentiation. The interior is restrained in style, and higher trims bring more upscale touches, so you should pay close attention to whether the equipment level matches the asking price.
• Powertrain: The Traverse uses a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. It delivers solid highway power, though the transmission can shift roughly at times.
• Safety package: Chevy offers a driver-assistance suite that can include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Adaptive cruise control is only available on the top trim level.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. Higher trims can add an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, a 4G-LTE WiFi hotspot, and a Bose 10-speaker audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Traverse gets 21 mpg combined with FWD and 20 mpg combined with AWD, with city/highway ratings of 18/27 mpg and 17/25 mpg, respectively.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Traverse trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Traverse lineup. It gets the basics, but you’ll want to compare it carefully against higher trims if you care about comfort or convenience features.
• LS: This is the next step up and is worth considering if you want a little more equipment without jumping too far in price. It’s a sensible middle-ground choice for shoppers who want value without going all the way to the upper trims.
• LT Cloth: This trim is a good fit if you want a more family-friendly balance of equipment and price. It should appeal to buyers who want a practical upgrade over the lower trims without paying for luxury-oriented extras.
• LT Leather: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel while staying below the premium end of the lineup. If you want the sweet spot between comfort and cost, this is the one to focus on.
• RS: This trim brings blacked-out styling and a sportier appearance, making it the right pick if you care about looks and want a more distinctive presence.
• Premier: This is the better choice if you want a more upscale Traverse with more available convenience and tech content. It suits buyers who want a richer feature set without going all the way to the top trim.
• High Country: This is the top-end choice, and it’s the one to consider if you want the most equipment and the most available driver-assistance content. Adaptive cruise control is only available here.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Traverse?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop, but the best examples still deserve quick action.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,098 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,360, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $21,360 sits slightly below last year's $24,620.

That decline suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make the Traverse easier to purchase now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability rather than broad market momentum alone.

Because the price range has already softened, a well-kept example may hold up better than a neglected one when it’s time to sell. Strong equipment, clean history, and good presentation should matter more than ever.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse earns Good ratings from IIHS in all crash tests and a Superior rating for front-crash prevention tech, and it earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA with four-star frontal and rollover ratings and five-star side-impact ratings.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy’s driver-assistance suite can include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Adaptive cruise control is only available on the High Country trim, so lower trims miss out on that feature.

There are also some caveats to keep in mind: IIHS headlight ratings vary by trim level, ranging from Acceptable to Poor, and LATCH ease of use is only rated Acceptable. That makes trim selection and equipment verification especially important if safety tech is a priority.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model is still a fairly fresh design, and the expert review says it offers strong highway comfort and a spacious cabin.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $24,645, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,360 average.
• It adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2021 is the smarter path because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for the newer model-year updates, the 2022 is the secondary path for buyers who specifically want the added convenience features.
