How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD cost?

Prices have softened 4.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,058 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD stands out as a heavy-duty work truck that can still serve daily duty, with serious towing and hauling ability paired with everyday comfort and convenience. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

The trade-offs are clear: its design may be polarizing, and visibility over the front hood is poor. Even so, the truck’s multiple powertrain options, easy-to-use technology, and plenty of cargo space make it a strong fit if you want a heavy-duty pickup that can work hard without feeling completely uncompromising.

There are 31.2% good or great deals in the market, which suggests you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Silverado 3500HD is built around serious capability, and the expert review emphasizes that it delivers on day-to-day heavy-duty needs while remaining approachable for regular use. Its powertrains are described as making terrific power, and the diesel setup benefits from the 10-speed automatic by staying in the ideal gear for optimal performance. The truck also comes with a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which adds some ownership reassurance.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a truck this large and capable can be expensive to keep in top shape if it has been worked hard or poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because heavy-duty trucks are often used for towing, hauling, and other demanding work. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on wear from hard use, especially if the truck has been used as a tow rig or fleet vehicle. Pay close attention to the condition of the cabin, bed, and trailering equipment, since those areas can reveal how the truck was treated.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The W/T comes with two USB ports, vinyl seat trim, two-tier trailering mirrors, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LT adds cloth seating, body-color door handles, Chevy’s EZ lift-and-lower tailgate, a 4.2-inch driver information display, an integrated trailer brake controller, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and an 8-inch touchscreen. The LTZ adds chrome exterior accents, leather upholstery, heated front seats, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, 120-volt wall-style power outlets, and side mirrors that extend and have integrated turn signals. The High Country adds heated and ventilated front seats, chrome side steps, a Bose premium sound system, and a spray-in bed-liner. The best-value trim is the LT if you want a stronger equipment mix without jumping too far up the price ladder.

• Powertrain: There are two engines: a standard 6.6-liter V8 with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, and an optional Duramax turbodiesel 6.6-liter V8 with 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. Both can be paired with rear-wheel drive or available four-wheel drive with low range, and both make the truck feel lively for its size. The diesel’s 10-speed automatic helps keep it in the ideal gear for optimal performance.

• Safety package: The truck comes standard with a backup camera and a full array of front- and side-impact airbags. Forward collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree parking camera system are available, but not standard.

• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen, while upgraded trims get an 8-inch screen and the High Country adds navigation. The system is described as easy to use, with hard buttons and dials plus a helpful home button. Wireless smartphone integration and over-the-air updates are not mentioned.

• Fuel efficiency: Drivers can expect fuel economy between 12 and 15 mpg.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is offered in 4 trim levels: W/T, LT, LTZ, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• W/T: This is the most basic version, but it still gives you the core heavy-duty essentials, including a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, vinyl seat trim, and trailering mirrors. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and plan to keep the truck focused on work.

• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds cloth seating, an 8-inch touchscreen, an integrated trailer brake controller, a WiFi hotspot, and the EZ lift-and-lower tailgate. It gives you a much more usable daily experience without pushing into luxury-trim pricing.

• LTZ: This trim adds a more upscale feel with leather upholstery, heated front seats, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and extended mirrors with integrated turn signals. It also brings an advanced trailering system, which is a strong fit if you tow often.

• High Country: This is the luxury-oriented choice, with heated and ventilated front seats, a Bose premium sound system, chrome side steps, body-color bumpers, and navigation. It suits you best if you want the most comfort and convenience features in the lineup.

For safety, the Silverado comes standard with a backup camera and a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, while many driver-assistance features remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,058 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.49% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 79.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $46,773, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $46,980 sits slightly below last year's $49,189.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar immediately. At the same time, the Silverado 3500HD’s heavy-duty capability and broad usefulness help support demand among shoppers who need real towing and hauling strength. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation compared with paying closer to the high end of the range.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD safe?

The Silverado comes standard with a backup camera and a full array of front- and side-impact airbags.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree parking camera system are available, but not standard. That means you should pay close attention to how a used truck is equipped, especially given its size and the visibility challenges noted in the review.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD or consider a different year?
