Used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD for Sale near Connecticut

How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 7.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,131 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its strong power, spacious interior, and robust features, and many also call out the comfortable ride with the 6.6 gas engine. The truck’s multiple body styles and powertrain choices make it appealing if you want a heavy-duty pickup that can be tailored to different jobs and daily use.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, and some owners note missing extras and minor cosmetic issues. The overview also points to poor ride quality and poor handling, so you should expect capability and flexibility more than refinement.

With 33.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a truck that feels dependable in day-to-day use, with repeated praise for its power and comfortable ride. That kind of feedback matters on a heavy-duty pickup, where buyers often want something they can count on for work and towing.

The expert review reinforces that sense of durability by describing the Silverado 2500HD as a capable truck with comfortable accommodations and useful modern camera technology. Chevrolet also includes a rearview camera, Teen Driver software, electronic stability control with traction control, and tire-pressure monitoring on every truck.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that wear from towing, hauling, and hard use can show up faster than on a lighter-duty truck.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck was used for towing or job-site duty. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and signs of heavy use in the bed, hitch area, and cabin. Because this is a heavy-duty pickup, the way it was used matters as much as the mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country grades give you a wide spread of equipment, and the base trims are the most stripped-down. The LT can add useful equipment such as the EZ Lift tailgate, while higher trims and special editions bring more comfort and appearance upgrades.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine or a 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel. The gas engine makes 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, while the diesel makes 445 hp and 910 lb-ft and is the better choice if you tow often.
• Safety package: Work Truck and Custom models can be equipped with the Safety Confidence Package, which includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, steering-wheel audio controls, a 4.2-inch driver information screen, and cruise control.
• Infotainment: Every truck gets a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Chevrolet Infotainment 3, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are available, along with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8-inch driver information screen.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel-economy figures are not provided for this heavy-duty truck.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is offered in 5 trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• Work Truck: This is the most basic choice, so it makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and plan to keep the truck focused on work duties. It is also one of the trims that can be equipped with the Safety Confidence Package.
• Custom: This trim adds a bit more everyday usability while staying on the value side of the lineup. It is another trim that can be equipped with the Safety Confidence Package, so it is worth a look if you want more equipment without jumping too far upmarket.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it balances equipment and price well. It also gets the standard EZ Lift tailgate for 2021 and can be paired with useful options like Duramax and Appearance Packages.
• LTZ: This is the step up if you want a more upscale feel and access to special editions such as the LTZ Premium Texas Edition. It suits you if you want more comfort and appearance content without going all the way to the top trim.
• High Country: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with the most premium positioning in the lineup. It makes the most sense if you want the highest-end Silverado 2500HD experience and are willing to pay for it.

The Safety Confidence Package is limited to Work Truck and Custom models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,131 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,716, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $39,753 sits slightly below last year's $42,930.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has moved into a more buyer-friendly phase, which can help future sellers if they bought at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have less downside exposure later.

At the same time, heavy-duty trucks can hold demand well when they have the right configuration and condition, so a clean, well-kept example should remain easier to move than a neglected one. Strong equipment, good maintenance records, and a desirable powertrain can all help support resale.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD safe?

The Silverado 2500HD has a different platform, body shell, and mechanics than its regular-duty Silverado 1500 counterpart, so the results of its crash tests are not indicative of how the Silverado 2500HD would respond in the event of a collision.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet equips every Silverado 2500 with six airbags, a rearview camera, Teen Driver software, an electronic stability control system with traction control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Work Truck and Custom models are eligible for the Safety Confidence Package, which adds forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, along with steering-wheel audio controls, a 4.2-inch driver information screen, and cruise control.

A key caveat is that the truck does not have crash-test ratings from the major agencies, so you should lean more heavily on equipment, trim choice, and vehicle history when evaluating safety.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 adds fresh camera technology and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto availability.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $38,511, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $39,753 average.
• It is presented as a highly capable, do-it-all pickup with modern convenience.

The bottom line: If you want the better shopping environment and the added 2021 updates, this is the stronger pick. If your priority is spending less up front and you can live with the older model year, the 2020 is the value-oriented alternative.
