How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV cost?

Prices are up 11.08% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 151 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV a good car?

With a 3.8/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating, the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV looks like a solid fit if you want an affordable EV that prioritizes practicality over flash. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its driving experience, spaciousness, impressive battery range, low maintenance costs, and value for money. Those strengths line up well with its role as an economical daily driver, especially if you want usable room and efficient commuting.

The trade-offs are just as clear: interior materials feel cheap, the seats are uncomfortable, and drivers also mention loud road noise and a subpar sound system. That makes it a better match if you care more about range and value than cabin polish.

Its overall positioning as a smaller, more attainable EV makes sense if you want a practical commuter rather than a luxury-minded electric car. With 29.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you may find some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV reliable?

The 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV is presented as a low-maintenance, value-focused EV that many owners feel good about living with day to day. Drivers specifically praise its low maintenance costs, and the expert review emphasizes its efficient, practical setup for everyday use.

The expert evaluation also points to a battery-and-motor package built for straightforward commuting, with a layout designed to maximize efficiency. That kind of simple electric drivetrain can be appealing if you want a car that is easy to count on for routine driving.

It also comes with an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty, which helps reduce long-term ownership risk for used buyers, though you should still check remaining coverage carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the battery, charging behavior, tires, brakes, and cabin condition. Because this model is valued for range and efficiency, you should pay close attention to how well the car still delivers those strengths in real-world use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT comes with alloy wheels, remote start, a 10.2-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, automatic climate control, dual USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, and satellite radio. The Premier adds leather upholstery, a rear center armrest, heated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a removable cargo load floor. The LT is the value pick if you want the essentials, while the Premier suits you if you want more comfort features.
• Powertrain: The Bolt EV uses a front-wheel-drive electric motor powered by a 66-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack. It makes 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, with strong low-end pickup and a claimed zero to 60 mph time of 6.5 seconds.
• Safety package: Chevy’s Teen Driver feature is standard, while advanced driver-assistance features are bundled into option packages. Driver Confidence I adds rear parking sensors, lane-change alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Driver Confidence II adds automatic high beams, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, a following distance indicator, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 10.2-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a WiFi hotspot. The system also includes a fully digital instrument panel and smartphone app support.
• Range & charging: The Bolt EV has an EPA range of 259 miles and a 66-kilowatt-hour battery pack. Level 1 charging adds about four miles of range per hour, Level 2 charging adds about 25 miles per hour, and DC fast charging can add up to 100 miles of range in 30 minutes.
• Battery health: On a used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, ask how the car was typically charged, and confirm whether most charging was done at home or with DC fast charging. You should also verify how much battery warranty coverage remains.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV is offered in 2 trim levels: LT and Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the best-value choice if you want the Bolt EV’s core strengths without paying for extras. You still get the 10.2-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, automatic climate control, and the everyday efficiency that defines the car.
• Premier: Choose this if you want a more comfortable and better-equipped cabin. It adds leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a removable cargo load floor, and it can be paired with the available infotainment and driver-assistance packages.

The safety packages are optional rather than standard, so make sure the specific car you’re considering has the features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV?

This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and compare listings carefully before moving quickly.

• Deal availability: 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 151 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 11.08% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 84.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,278, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV's resale value?

The current average of $17,097 sits slightly above last year's $15,391.

That upward move suggests the Bolt EV has held buyer interest well for a used EV. If you own one, that can support stronger resale positioning than you might expect from an older electric commuter.

For a future seller, the key is condition and documentation. A clean history, healthy battery, and well-kept interior should help you defend asking price better than a similar car with visible wear or missing service records.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV earns a five-star crash test rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy’s Teen Driver feature is standard, and it lets you set speed and volume limits for a second set of keys. The available Driver Confidence I package adds rear parking sensors, lane-change alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Driver Confidence II, available on the Premier, adds automatic high beams, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, a following distance indicator, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist.

The main safety caveat is that most advanced driver-assistance features are not standard, so you should confirm which package a used example has before you buy.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 11.08% year-over-year.
• It offers an affordable, practical EV setup with strong range and value.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $19,292, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $17,097 average.
• It adds standard DC fast charging.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter starting point because it delivers the Bolt EV’s core strengths at a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for standard DC fast charging and a newer model year, the 2022 is the cleaner upgrade path.
