How much does the 2021 Cadillac Escalade cost?

Prices have softened 11.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,460 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Cadillac Escalade earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its technology, build quality, and stylish design, and many describe it as a significant improvement over previous models. The overview also frames it as a redesigned full-size luxury SUV with a sophisticated cabin and strong presence, which matches the positive feedback around its upscale feel.

The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and fuel economy is poor. Some owners also feel it does not fully deliver on the luxury expected at this price point.

With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with praise centered on build quality and a trouble-free ownership impression. Reviewers also describe it as a significant improvement over earlier versions, which supports the sense that this generation is more confidence-inspiring than its predecessors.

The expert notes reinforce that impression by emphasizing the Escalade’s refined ride, strong highway manners, and well-executed technology. The cost-effectiveness commentary also notes that Cadillac supplies a turbo-diesel engine at no additional cost, which adds flexibility for buyers weighing long-term use.

For used buyers, the biggest ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s premium systems and high running costs fit your budget.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Cadillac Escalade?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a documented record. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the suspension, brakes, electronics, and any driver-assistance features, since this SUV leans heavily on technology. You should also pay close attention to interior condition, because luxury materials and high-use touchpoints matter a lot in a vehicle at this price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Luxury trim is decently equipped but offers little in the way of upgrades, while Premium Luxury and Sport add more desirable luxury and safety content. Platinum versions bring the highest-end materials and the most upscale cabin presentation.
• Powertrain: The standard 6.2-liter V8 delivers 420 horsepower and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, while a turbo-diesel is also mentioned as a no-cost option. The V8 includes direct fuel injection, automatic stop/start, and Dynamic Fuel Management to help improve efficiency.
• Safety package: Every Escalade gets forward collision warning, automatic forward emergency braking below 50 mph, front and rear pedestrian detection, Teen Driver, parking assist sensors, a surround-view camera system, and a rear-seat reminder. Premium Luxury and Sport add blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a rear camera mirror, while the Driver Assist Tech Package adds higher-speed forward emergency braking, rear emergency braking, automatic seatbelt tightening, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The cabin centers on a 38-inch curved OLED display, with a 14.2-inch instrumentation screen and a 16.9-inch touch-sensing infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, AR navigation is standard, and a 19-speaker AKG premium sound system is standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the 4WD test vehicle should have returned 16 mpg in combined driving, and the test loop returned 15.9 mpg.

Which 2021 Cadillac Escalade trim should I buy?

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade is offered in 4 trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• Luxury: This is the entry point, and it is decently equipped, but the content makes clear that it offers little in the way of upgrades. It works if you want the Escalade experience at the lowest starting price, but it is not the most compelling value.
• Premium Luxury: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the richer luxury presentation and, importantly, the upgraded safety content that raises the Escalade’s appeal. It also aligns with the test vehicle’s strong ride, tech, and overall polish.
• Sport: Choose this if you want the blacked-out look and the same upscale equipment path as Premium Luxury, with a more aggressive appearance.
• Platinum: This is the trim for maximum luxury, with the most upscale materials and the highest-end cabin treatment.

Premium Luxury and Sport are the trims that raise the safety ante with standard blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a rear camera mirror.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Cadillac Escalade?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,460 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $54,117, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade's resale value?

The current average of $54,117 sits slightly below last year's $61,008.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure resale expectations if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the Escalade’s value is still supported by strong demand for full-size luxury SUVs, but pricing momentum is softer than it was a year ago.

If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who pays closer to the top of the range. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade safe?

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Cadillac equips every Escalade with forward collision warning, automatic forward emergency braking below 50 mph, front and rear pedestrian detection, a Safety Alert Seat, Teen Driver, front and rear parking assist sensors, a surround-view camera system, and a rear-seat reminder. Premium Luxury and Sport add blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a rear camera mirror, while the optional Driver Assist Tech Package adds higher-speed forward emergency braking, rear emergency braking, automatic seatbelt tightening, and adaptive cruise control.

The safety setup is broad, but the content also notes a couple of false alarms during testing, including one unnecessary braking event. That means the Escalade’s safety tech is extensive, but you should still evaluate how the systems behave in real-world driving.

Should I buy a 2021 Cadillac Escalade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model year brings the redesigned Escalade with a 38-inch OLED display and available Super Cruise.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $58,812, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $54,117 average.
• It adds standard lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning on the base trim.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price relief and the redesigned Escalade’s major upgrades, the 2021 is the smarter buy. If you want a slightly newer model with a few added standard safety features and can pay more, the 2022 is worth a look.
