How much does the 2021 Cadillac Escalade cost?

Prices have softened 10.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,489 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Cadillac Escalade earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its technology, build quality, and stylish design, and many describe it as a major improvement over earlier versions. The overview also points to a redesigned full-size luxury SUV with a strong presence and a technologically sophisticated feel. The main trade-offs are that the high price can be a downside and some shoppers may feel it does not fully match the luxury of some rivals.

With a 36.7% share of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on technology, build quality, and a luxury experience that many owners feel is a significant step up. The performance write-up also emphasizes that the Escalade’s torque delivery and highway composure make it feel confident and settled, which supports the impression of long-term usability. Cadillac’s cost-effectiveness notes also mention that the turbo-diesel engine comes at no additional cost.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a high-end SUV with complex technology can be expensive to keep in top shape.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Cadillac Escalade?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the electronics, driver-assistance features, and interior condition, since this model leans heavily on technology and luxury materials. It also makes sense to pay close attention to signs of wear that could be costly to correct on a premium SUV.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Luxury trim is decently equipped but offers little in the way of upgrades, while Premium Luxury and Sport add more desirable equipment and the Platinum upgrade brings maximum luxury. The base trim also lacks the full head-up display that appears on all but Luxury.
• Powertrain: You can get a standard 6.2-liter V8 or a no-cost 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder engine. The V8 is the more likely choice if you want the familiar sound and stronger performance feel, while the diesel is positioned as the efficiency-minded option.
• Safety package: Every Escalade includes forward collision warning, automatic forward emergency braking below 50 mph, front and rear pedestrian detection, Teen Driver, parking assist sensors, a surround-view camera, and a rear-seat reminder. Premium Luxury and Sport add blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a rear camera mirror, while the Driver Assist Tech Package adds higher-speed forward emergency braking, rear emergency braking, automatic seatbelt tightening, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The cabin centers on a 38-inch curved-glass OLED display setup, with a 14.2-inch instrumentation screen and a 16.9-inch touch-sensing infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and AR navigation is standard as well.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 is described as returning 16 mpg in combined driving by EPA estimate, and the test vehicle averaged 15.9 mpg on a 140-mile loop. The turbo-diesel is described as potentially capable of up to 27 mpg in combined driving in a related application.

Which 2021 Cadillac Escalade trim should I buy?

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade is offered in 4 trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• Luxury: This is the entry point, and it is decently equipped, but it offers little in the way of upgrades. If you want the Escalade experience at the lowest starting price, this is the trim to consider, though it is the least compelling choice for shoppers who want the richest feature set.
• Premium Luxury: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds the more desirable upscale feel and is the version highlighted in the test drive. It also unlocks more safety equipment than Luxury and is the trim most clearly aligned with the Escalade’s luxury mission.
• Sport: Choose this if you want the blacked-out appearance and the same broader equipment set as Premium Luxury. It is the style-forward alternative for buyers who care about presentation as much as features.
• Platinum: This is the top luxury choice if you want the most upscale materials and the fullest expression of the cabin. It is the trim to target if you want maximum luxury and are willing to pay for it.

Premium Luxury and Sport trims add standard blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a rear camera mirror.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Cadillac Escalade?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,489 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.92% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $54,229, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade's resale value?

The current average of $54,229 sits slightly below last year's $60,875.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold buyer interest better than rougher or more basic ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Cadillac Escalade safe?

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade earns Good ratings from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Escalade comes with forward collision warning, automatic forward emergency braking below 50 mph, front and rear pedestrian detection, Teen Driver, front and rear parking assist sensors, a surround-view camera system, and a rear-seat reminder. Premium Luxury and Sport add blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a rear camera mirror. The Driver Assist Tech Package adds higher-speed forward emergency braking, rear emergency braking, automatic seatbelt tightening, and adaptive cruise control.

A caveat to keep in mind is that the test-drive notes describe a couple of false alarms, including one false braking event.

Should I buy a 2021 Cadillac Escalade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a 38-inch OLED display and available Super Cruise, giving this year a major tech advantage.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $59,118, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $54,229 average.
• It adds standard lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning on the base trim.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better value if you want the redesigned Escalade at a lower average price and with the biggest leap in technology. If you want a newer model with a few extra standard safety conveniences and can pay more, the 2022 is the cleaner upgrade path.
