Used 2021 BMW X7 for Sale nearSaint Paul, MN

How much does the 2021 BMW X7 cost?

Prices have softened 12.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,136 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 BMW X7 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 BMW X7 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the driving experience, luxurious interior, and spaciousness, and they also call out the strong power and performance. In use, that lines up with the X7’s appeal as a large luxury SUV that feels more like a driver’s vehicle than a purely comfort-first people mover.

The main trade-offs are the suspension’s tendency to let in too much body motion and the fact that advanced safety features are not standard. For you, that means the X7 makes the most sense if you value road manners, cabin quality, and space more than a perfectly settled ride or a fully loaded standard safety roster.

The market also looks reasonably healthy, with 37.3% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2021 BMW X7 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for the X7’s luxurious cabin, strong performance, and spaciousness. The expert review also describes the driving assistance technology as accurate, smooth, and trustworthy, which supports the impression that the vehicle feels well sorted in daily use.

BMW also includes free scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about making sure the vehicle has been maintained carefully, since luxury-SUV repairs can become expensive once coverage ends.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 BMW X7?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on suspension behavior, electronics, and any signs of heavy wear, especially if the SUV has larger wheels or more equipment. It also makes sense to compare trim content closely, since BMW restricted some of the X7’s more decadent features to the Alpina XB7 for this model year.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The xDrive40i starts at $74,900, the M50i starts at $99,800, and the Alpina XB7 starts at $141,300. The xDrive40i is the most approachable choice, while the higher trims add more luxury and performance content; the Alpina XB7 is where BMW concentrated many of the most decadent features.
• Powertrain: The xDrive40i uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with 335 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed sport automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive. BMW’s 48-volt mild-hybrid system adds an electric boost effect, improves responsiveness, and helps reduce engine load.
• Safety package: BMW makes its safety technologies standard, except for the optional Driving Assistance Professional Package and Parking Assistance Package. The Driving Assistance Professional Package adds Active Driving Assistant Pro with evasive-steering assist, traffic-jam assist, lane-control assist, emergency stop assist, and partially automated steering input on limited-access highways at speeds under 40 mph.
• Infotainment: The X7 uses a 12.3-inch display for both Live Cockpit Professional and iDrive 7.0 with navigation. For 2021, it adds Android Auto alongside Apple CarPlay, plus wireless smartphone charging, Connected Package Pro, BMW Remote Services, and three free months of WiFi hotspot access.
• Fuel efficiency: The xDrive40i returns 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined.

Which 2021 BMW X7 trim should I buy?

The 2021 BMW X7 is offered in 3 trim levels: xDrive40i, M50i, and Alpina XB7.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the best-value starting point if you want the X7’s core strengths without jumping to the highest price tiers. You still get the 48-volt mild-hybrid inline-six, strong power, and the X7’s upscale cabin and technology.
• M50i: Choose this if you want more performance and are willing to pay for it. It sits above the xDrive40i and is the better fit if stronger acceleration matters more than value.
• Alpina XB7: This is the top-end choice for buyers who want the most exclusive and performance-focused version of the X7. BMW also concentrated many of the model’s most decadent features here, so it makes sense if you want the most lavish equipment.

BMW’s safety technologies are standard, but the Driving Assistance Professional Package and Parking Assistance Package remain optional on the X7.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 BMW X7?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting forever.

• Deal availability: 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,136 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $36,269, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 BMW X7's resale value?

The current average of $36,269 sits slightly below last year's $41,539.

That price movement suggests the X7 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be starting from a more favorable value position than a buyer who paid closer to the original new-car pricing. The key for resale will be maintaining condition, service history, and desirable equipment, since luxury-SUV shoppers tend to compare vehicles closely.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 BMW X7 safe?

The 2021 BMW X7 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW equips the X7 with all of its safety technologies as standard features, except for what you get in the optional Driving Assistance Professional Package and the Parking Assistance Package. The Driving Assistance Professional Package adds Active Driving Assistant Pro with evasive-steering assist, traffic-jam assist, lane-control assist, emergency stop assist, and partially automated steering input on limited-access highways at speeds under 40 mph.

The expert review says this system works well and feels accurate, smooth, and trustworthy in real driving. The main caveat is that lane-maintenance behavior can be more reactive than proactive in some situations, and automated lane changes are more abrupt than ideal. The Parking Assistance Package adds semi-automated parallel parking assist, a surround-view camera, and a drive recorder system.

Should I buy a 2021 BMW X7 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model adds a 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain to the standard xDrive40i and debuts the Alpina XB7, while also revising equipment and safety availability.

The bottom line: The 2021 BMW X7 is the right pick if you want the year’s updated powertrain and equipment mix, plus strong owner satisfaction and a lower average price than last year. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can shop aggressively within this year’s inventory and focus on well-kept examples with the features you care about most.
