Used 2021 BMW M3 for Sale near New Mexico

How much does the 2021 BMW M3 cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 115 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2021 BMW M3 a good car?

It is a strong choice if you want a luxury performance sedan that can be calm in daily driving and ferocious when you push it, though its appeal depends on how much you value driving excitement over practicality. The user rating is 3.67/5, and the expert rating is 6.67/10.

The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

The 2021 M3 is built for buyers who want a true driver’s car, with a powerful engine, a manual transmission available, and a fun, engaging feel on back roads or at the track. The trade-offs are clear: the ride quality is poor, fuel economy is poor, and cargo space is limited.

With 32.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively if you want the right combination of price and equipment.

Is the 2021 BMW M3 reliable?

The 2021 BMW M3 is presented as a high-performance sedan that can be driven every day, but its long-term appeal depends on whether you can live with the compromises that come with its capability. The expert evaluation emphasizes that it is built to deliver serious performance, while the overview makes clear that it is meant for buyers who prioritize driving excitement over everyday practicality.

Its performance character is described as a car that rewards smooth, measured driving and feels especially rewarding when you drive it with respect. The cost-effectiveness commentary also frames it as a machine whose abilities go beyond what most public roads can fully use, which is a useful reminder that ownership is about more than just straight-line speed.

BMW also includes a first scheduled maintenance visit at no charge, which helps soften early ownership costs a bit.

For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is that a car this capable can be expensive to keep in top shape if it has been driven hard or maintained inconsistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 BMW M3?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you are considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a performance sedan like this, since condition and maintenance history matter more than mileage alone. Pay close attention to signs of hard use, wear on performance components, and whether the car has been modified or tracked.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base car emphasizes the manual-transmission, driver-focused setup, while the Competition version adds more power and an automatic transmission. If you want the most engaging setup, the manual-equipped version is the key differentiator; if you want easier daily use and more straight-line pace, the Competition is the one to compare carefully.
• Powertrain: The standard car uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six with 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, while the Competition raises output to 503 hp and 479 lb-ft. The base car uses a six-speed manual, and the Competition uses an eight-speed automatic.
• Safety package: BMW includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, drowsy driver monitoring, post-crash braking, and BMW Assist eCall with an SOS button and automatic collision notification. The Driving Assistance Professional Package is only available on the Competition and adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, extended traffic jam assistance, lane-centering assistance, evasive steering assistance, and emergency stop assistance.
• Infotainment: BMW equips the M3 with iDrive 7.0, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a touchscreen with voice recognition. The system is quick to respond, and the natural voice recognition works especially well.
• Fuel efficiency: The base M3 is described as getting 19 mpg in combined driving, and the overview says fuel economy is poor.

Which 2021 BMW M3 trim should I buy?

The 2021 BMW M3 is offered in 2 trim levels: M3 and M3 Competition.

Here's the short version:

• M3: This is the one to choose if you want the most involved driving experience, since it comes with the six-speed manual and the standard rear-drive setup. It is the better fit if you value driver engagement over convenience.
• M3 Competition: This is the best-value trim if you want the stronger performance punch and the automatic transmission. It adds more power and is the easier choice if you do not want to work a clutch pedal.

BMW’s more advanced driver-assistance package is only available on the Competition, and it requires the automatic transmission.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 BMW M3?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings rather than rushing into the first car you see.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 115 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $67,240, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 BMW M3's resale value?

The current average of $69,768 sits slightly above last year's $69,501.

That small increase suggests the M3 has held its value fairly well, which is what you would expect from a desirable performance sedan. For a future seller, that stability is a positive sign because it points to steady demand rather than a sharp drop in market interest.

The narrow spread between the year-ago average and today’s price also suggests the market is not swinging wildly. If you buy carefully and keep the car in strong condition, you should have a reasonable chance of preserving value better than many mainstream sedans.

Is the 2021 BMW M3 safe?

The 2021 BMW M3 comes with a full set of driver aids, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, drowsy driver monitoring, post-crash braking, and BMW Assist eCall with an SOS button and automatic collision notification.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW also offers the Driving Assistance Professional Package on the Competition trim, which adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, extended traffic jam assistance, lane-centering assistance, evasive steering assistance, and emergency stop assistance. That package is not available on the base car, and it requires the automatic transmission.

Crash-test ratings have not been performed on this model.

Should I buy a 2021 BMW M3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• It is the year that BMW’s experts describe as a true driver’s car with a dual personality: calm enough for everyday use, but ferocious when pushed hard.

The bottom line: The 2021 M3 makes the most sense if you want the most engaging version of this sedan and are willing to accept its compromises. If you are more price-sensitive, you should still shop the market closely, because the steady pricing and decent deal availability give you room to find a strong example without overpaying.
