Used 2020 Volvo XC90 for Sale nearWichita, KS

How much does the 2020 Volvo XC90 cost?

Prices have softened 15.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,060 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Volvo XC90 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the stylish design, premium-feeling cabin, and comfortable driving experience. The user feedback also points to a spacious interior and strong safety, which fits the XC90’s family-friendly mission.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert review calls out fairly pedestrian performance and an underwhelming base engine. That means you should think of this as an upscale, reassuring three-row SUV rather than a quick one.

The XC90 is especially appealing if you want a refined family hauler with a premium interior and a safety-first personality. Good and great deals account for 35.8% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a reliable-feeling ownership experience, with owners highlighting comfort, strong performance on the road, and a family-friendly setup they can count on. The expert review also describes the XC90 as a vehicle built on decades of safety research, which reinforces its dependability-minded character.

Volvo also includes 3 years or 36,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership friction. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure prior maintenance and wear items were handled properly, especially on higher-mileage examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Volvo XC90?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has higher mileage or a long option list. Focus on cabin condition, electronics, and signs of heavy family use, since this model is often chosen for daily duty and road trips.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base setup is front-wheel drive with the smaller T5 engine, while higher trims bring better interior materials, more tech, and all-wheel drive.
• Powertrain: The lineup uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4, with T5, T6, and T8 plug-in hybrid versions available; the base engine is the weakest choice.
• Safety package: Volvo Pilot Assist comes standard, combining adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, and standard safety equipment also includes forward emergency braking, pedestrian detection, a driver-attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring, and traffic-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: The portrait-oriented touchscreen is high-resolution and easy to use, but onboard apps can be slow to load and the digital display is not highly reconfigurable.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the XC90’s mileage is unimpressive, with the T6 AWD rated at 18 mpg city, 26 highway, and 21 combined, and the T5 AWD at 20 city, 27 highway, and 23 combined.

Which 2020 Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Volvo XC90 is offered in 3 trim levels: Momentum, R-Design, Inscription.

Here's the short version:

• Momentum: This is the entry point, but the expert review makes clear that the base setup is the one to skip if you want the XC90’s better materials, stronger equipment mix, and all-wheel drive.
• R-Design: This trim adds a more aggressive look, blacked-out exterior details, and upgraded interior trim choices, making it the best fit if you want the sportier appearance and a richer cabin.
• Inscription: This is the most upscale choice, with matte wood trim and wool fabric seat options, so it suits you best if comfort and luxury presentation matter most.

Volvo Pilot Assist and the rest of the standard safety equipment are strong across the lineup, so even lower trims still benefit from the XC90’s safety-first setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Volvo XC90?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,060 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,010, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $22,010 sits slightly below last year's $26,083.

That decline suggests the XC90 has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy well now, you may have less depreciation left to absorb than someone who purchased when prices were higher.

The model’s strong safety reputation and high owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment and clean history are likely to remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Volvo XC90 safe?

The 2020 Volvo XC90 earns top scores from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward emergency braking, pedestrian detection, a driver-attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, and Volvo Pilot Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist. The expert review also highlights Volvo’s long history of safety engineering, including rollover protection and whiplash protection systems.

The main caveat is that the IIHS headlight test keeps it from earning the higher Top Safety Pick+ designation.

Should I buy a 2020 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 XC90 keeps the modern foundation from Volvo’s 2016 redesign, including its stylish design, premium cabin, and semi-automated driving capability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,695, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,010 average.
• It adds a handful of newly standard tech features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong safety and solid owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for a few incremental tech updates, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative.
