The all-new 2020 Yaris Hatchback proves that small cars don’t have to be boring and that affordable cars don’t have to look and feel cheap. The Yaris Hatchback will compete against cars like the Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent, and Chevrolet Cruze.

The Yaris Hatchback has a bold and playful look, with an athletic stance and eye-catching lighting. Standard features include body-color side mirrors with LED turn signals, body-color door handles, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Automatic LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights are available as a stylish yet functional upgrade. The exterior color palette features Stealth, Graphite, Pulse, Sapphire, Chromium, Frost, and Icicle hues. Despite the car’s small footprint, which enables it to zip in and out of parking spots with ease, it is surprisingly spacious inside.

The Yaris Hatchback is powered by a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine rated for 106 horsepower. A 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD) come standard. Sport Mode is included on every Yaris Hatchback for peppier acceleration. Toyota estimates the Yaris Hatchback will achieve 40 mpg on the highway.

The premium look and feel continue inside the cabin, thanks largely to Toyota’s efforts to reduce road noise and vibration with plenty of insulation. Two trim levels will be available, XE and XLE, with a generous list of standard features in both. The Yaris Hatchback XE will include keyless entry, push-button start, an adjustable steering wheel, and heated side mirrors. The XLE trim adds synthetic leather upholstery, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, automatic climate control, automatic LED headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Both Yaris Hatchback trims feature an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker audio system, two USB ports, Bluetooth, voice recognition, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. A multifunction steering wheel provides easy-to-reach controls. Navigation capability also comes standard, but activating the system requires the purchase of an SD card from the dealership.

Toyota announced that a low-speed pre-collision system with automatic emergency braking will come standard on both trim levels. A reversing camera also comes standard.

The 2020 Yaris Hatchback is poised to be an attractive addition to the Toyota lineup and a good choice for shoppers in search of a sharp, efficient, and well-equipped urban runabout. Look for the Yaris Hatchback later this year.
