How much does the 2020 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 3.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,304 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Forester earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its safety features, smooth driving experience, and interior design, and many say it delivers strong value compared with rivals. That makes it a good fit if you want a practical compact SUV built around everyday usefulness, all-weather confidence, and comfort rather than flash. With 37.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the Forester as a vehicle they can count on. That kind of long-term praise matters if you plan to keep the SUV for years rather than just a short stint. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is making sure the specific example you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t picked up avoidable wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a vehicle-by-vehicle review. Put inspection priority on signs of prior damage, uneven wear, and any condition issues that could affect long-term ownership. Focus especially on the cabin and road manners, since owner feedback mentions road noise and an interior that can feel narrower than expected.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,304 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,402, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $20,568 sits slightly below last year's $21,400.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also suggests the market has already adjusted downward from prior levels. If you plan to resell later, the key will be buying well and keeping the vehicle in strong condition so you preserve as much value as possible. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,495, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $20,568 average.
• It offers standard AWD and practical everyday usability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,579, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $20,568 average.
• It adds a few extra standard safety features and convenience upgrades.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the best all-around pick if you want a well-liked Forester with strong owner satisfaction and a healthier used-market price than the 2021. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the better value play, while the 2021 makes sense only if you want the newer feature set and are comfortable paying more.
