How much does the 2020 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 4.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,273 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Forester earns a 4.83/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its safety features, smooth driving experience, and interior design, and many say it delivers strong value compared with rivals. That fits well if you want a practical compact SUV with everyday usefulness, comfort, and standard all-wheel drive. With 35.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary also points to a reputation for reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with buyers often saying it feels like a vehicle you can count on. That kind of feedback matters if you plan to keep the SUV for years and want confidence in day-to-day use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s core appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Put inspection priority on the condition of the drivetrain, tires, brakes, and interior wear, since those details tell you more about how the vehicle was treated than the photos do. Focus on overall condition and maintenance evidence, especially if you want a Forester that will stay dependable over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,273 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.23% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,405, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $20,825 sits slightly below last year's $21,745.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well the vehicle holds its appeal and condition. If you buy at a sensible price and keep the vehicle clean and well maintained, you give yourself a better chance of limiting depreciation pain later. Strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,772, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $20,825 average.
• It offers standard AWD and practical family-friendly space.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,910, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $20,825 average.
• It adds more standard safety equipment and a few convenience upgrades.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the best all-around path if you want a well-liked Forester with strong owner satisfaction and a softer price than last year. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the better secondary path because it undercuts the current-year average while keeping the core Forester formula intact.
