How much does the 2020 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 3.72% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,286 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Forester earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.

Drivers consistently praise its safety features, smooth driving experience, and interior design. Many also say it delivers strong value compared with rivals, especially if you want a practical compact SUV with standard all-wheel drive and a roomy, easy-to-live-with layout.

With 35.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers highlighting its reliability, safety, and value. That combination suggests you can count on it as a practical long-term choice if you prioritize everyday usability over excitement.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about major appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report to confirm accident status, title history, and service records. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the drivetrain, suspension, and interior condition, since those areas matter most on a used compact SUV.

It also helps to focus on road-test behavior and cabin wear, especially if the vehicle has seen frequent commuting or family use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop but still room to negotiate.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,286 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.72% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,402, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $20,663 sits slightly below last year's $21,461.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market stays steady. If you plan to sell later, the best protection is buying well and keeping the vehicle in strong condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,571, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $20,663 average.
• It offers practical all-weather capability and family-friendly space.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,664, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $20,663 average.
• It adds a few standard safety upgrades and more convenience features.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2020 if you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and available inventory. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 is the better value play; if you want a slightly newer setup and can spend more, the 2021 is worth a look.
