Contractors and small businesses need the right tool for their jobs. That extends to vehicles, and for many, the 2020 Ram ProMaster is that tool. As DOT specifications go, the ProMaster is a Class 2 commercial van and gets built with seemingly countless different jobs in mind. There are three tiers and two styles of the ProMaster: the 1500 Cargo Van, 2500 Cargo Van, 3500 Cargo Van, 2500 Cargo Van with Window, and 3500 Cargo Van with Window. The ProMaster is available in cargo van, window van, chassis cab, and cutaway styles.

The cargo van is offered with a number of bed lengths and vehicle heights, including an 8-foot cargo length with the standard roof, a 10-foot cargo version with a standard or high roof, a 12-foot cargo model with standard or high roof, and a 13-foot cargo version, which comes exclusively with the high roof.

The ProMaster features a passenger-side sliding door and rear barn doors that are able to open 260 degrees, folding nearly all the way back to the sidewalls of the van. This allows for the loading and unloading of items without the doors ever getting in the way. Inside, the ProMaster features a durable load floor with anti-slip flooring and notches at the base of the rear doors for easy, secure placement of a ramp.

The sharply raked front end and massive windshield of the ProMaster ensure plenty of forward visibility. This is aided by large side mirrors, complete with wide-angle lower mirrors. The front seating area of the ProMaster features plenty of cargo trays and bins for all your gear. The ProMaster Cargo also features three different types of seats, including standard bucket seats, a three-passenger setup, and available swivel bucket seats, allowing the front passengers to rotate back toward the cargo area of the van.

If your business is moving people around, the ProMaster Van with Window provides a number of different seating configurations, and the high-roof version offers additional headroom for passengers.

The ProMaster places a standard USB port and 12-volt outlet right in the dash for easy access. At the center of the dash is the Uconnect 3 infotainment system with a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, and voice control. This system can also be enhanced with available navigation.

Because the ProMaster will be used for countless different jobs, Ram makes available a number of up-fit packages for contractors and businesses. A delivery up-fit package features plenty of racks for packages, while unique plumbing, electrical, and construction up-fits are all designed and optimized for each job.

No matter the trim or equipment package, the ProMaster is powered by the same 3.6-liter V6 that powers many Ram, Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler vehicles. In the ProMaster, it routes power through a 6-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels. It's operated via a dash-mounted shifter, complete with a manual mode and Tow/Haul button.

For 2020, the ProMaster gains a factory-installed trailer hitch, and when properly equipped, the ProMaster can tow up to 6,800 pounds. That number does not match the Ford Transit’s 7,500 pounds of towing, but the ProMaster has a 4,680-pound payload capacity, which is more than the Ford van’s 4,515 pounds. That payload allows users to load the ProMaster with plenty of equipment and materials.

Standard safety features include traction control, a backup camera, and a full array of front and side-impact airbags. The ProMaster also features an innovative modular plastic front-end design. The headlights and other critical elements have been moved higher, so in the event of a fender-bender, they can be easily replaced and let the van get back to work.

The ProMaster is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile basic and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. Ram also provides 5 years and 60,000 miles of roadside assistance, ensuring you can get back to the job at hand with minimal hassle.
