Used 2020 RAM 2500 for Sale nearBuffalo, NY

How much does the 2020 RAM 2500 cost?

Prices have softened 8.42% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,479 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare by trim, mileage, and condition.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 RAM 2500 earns a 4.85/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, comfortable ride, and impressive interior features. The feedback also highlights the Cummins diesel engine as reliable and dependable, with strong towing capability and long-term confidence. The main trade-off is fuel economy, which owners say trails some competitors, and some interior details draw criticism.

That lines up with the truck’s purpose: you’re getting a heavy-duty pickup that’s meant to haul and tow substantial loads while still feeling refined and upscale inside. With 34.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.85/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a reliable Cummins diesel and a truck that drivers feel they can count on for towing and everyday heavy-duty use. The expert drive notes that HD trucks like this are built to handle demanding work without getting tired, and it emphasizes that the diesel’s exhaust brake helps reduce brake wear during heavy hauling. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to maintenance upside, since that exhaust-brake setup can extend brake life.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure a hard-working truck hasn’t been overused or poorly maintained, especially if it spent its life towing or hauling at the limit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 RAM 2500?

At 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has towing equipment, suspension modifications, or signs of heavy use. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and whether the truck’s equipment matches how you plan to use it. Because this is a heavy-duty pickup, wear can vary a lot depending on whether it was a commuter, a tow rig, or a work truck.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The truck’s six trim levels range from a more basic work-truck setup to upper trims with very upscale materials and features. Base-trim trucks are much simpler, while upper trims add the kind of leather, wood trim, and premium cabin presentation that make this model stand out.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque or a 6.7-liter Cummins inline-six diesel with 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. The gas V8 brings the highest payloads, while the diesel is the stronger towing choice.
• Safety package: Most driver assists are optional, including blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise, and forward emergency braking. You should verify which of those features are actually fitted on the truck you’re considering.
• Infotainment: A 5-inch touchscreen is standard, but the 8.4-inch Uconnect upgrade is the one most shoppers will want. The available 12-inch display adds a much more useful interface for maps, trailer settings, and camera views.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel test truck averaged close to 19 mpg over 515 mostly highway miles.

Which 2020 RAM 2500 trim should I buy?

The 2020 RAM 2500 is offered in 6 trim levels: Tradesman, Laramie Longhorn, Limited, Power Wagon, and the other two trim levels explicitly referenced in the model’s trim roster.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the starting point if you want the lowest entry price and a straightforward heavy-duty work truck. It’s the trim to consider if you care more about capability than luxury, but you’ll be giving up the upscale cabin materials and premium presentation that define the higher trims.
• Power Wagon: Choose this if you want the most off-road-focused personality in the lineup. The content identifies it as a distinct model variant, and it’s the one to look at if your use case goes beyond pavement and towing.
• Laramie Longhorn: This is the trim for buyers who want the cabin to feel especially premium without necessarily going all the way to the top. The interior materials and craftsmanship are described as outstanding, making it a strong choice if comfort matters a lot.
• Limited: This is the best-value pick if you want the full luxury experience. It combines the most upscale interior presentation with the truck’s strongest technology and a genuinely premium feel, which makes it the trim most aligned with the model’s personality.

Safety-package note: most driver-assistance features are optional rather than standard, so you should confirm the exact equipment on any truck you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 RAM 2500?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,479 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.42% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,277, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $38,600 sits slightly below last year's $42,147.

That decline suggests the truck has become more affordable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may benefit from a softer market entry point, but resale will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment. Trucks with desirable features and strong maintenance records should hold up better than neglected examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.85/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Most driver assists are optional, including blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise, and forward emergency braking. Ram says the emergency braking system will function with a trailer attached, which is a useful detail for towing-focused buyers. The main caveat is that these features are not standard, so you should verify exactly what’s installed on the truck you’re shopping.

Should I buy a 2020 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.85/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for its blend of luxury, technology, and capability in a heavy-duty truck.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck that feels unusually upscale and you’re shopping in a softer market, the 2020 is the year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still find value here, but you should compare condition and equipment carefully because the best trucks will be the ones with clean histories and the right options.
