Used 2020 Nissan Frontier for Sale nearAkron, OH

How much does the 2020 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 6.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 877 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.44/5 user rating and a 5.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners commonly praise its comfortable ride, handling, and power, and they also appreciate the straightforward, no-frills design. The overview points to a simple pickup with a powerful engine and off-road ability, which matches the recurring positives in owner feedback.

The trade-offs are clear: the truck’s technology is outdated, and its value proposition is weak. The expert review also flags its aging design and limited modern equipment, so you should expect a truck that feels honest and capable rather than current or especially polished.

With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.44/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, with praise for its comfortable ride, handling, and power. The expert review also describes the Frontier as solidly built, with remarkable structural solidity and no squeaks or rattles over rough roads.

That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition, because age and wear matter more when you’re shopping a truck with this much dated hardware.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Nissan Frontier?

At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, frame condition, and signs of prior repair. Because this truck is older and its safety tech is limited, condition matters more than cosmetic extras. Focus on how the truck was used, whether it shows signs of hard work, and whether the drivetrain and cabin have been maintained consistently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Frontier’s trim structure varies by cab style, and the PRO-4X stands out with a tube-style roof rack, unique 16-inch alloy wheels, knobby white-lettered tires, a standard spray-in bedliner, and bedside graphics. Lower trims are much more basic, so you should expect fewer convenience and appearance features if you shop the entry-level versions.
• Powertrain: The truck uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The engine is described as smooth and refined, and the transmission makes good use of the power.
• Safety package: The Frontier includes a reversing camera, antilock brakes, traction control, and stability control. That’s the full list, so you should not expect a modern driver-assistance suite or broader active-safety coverage.
• Infotainment: The PRO-4X uses a 5.8-inch touchscreen with NissanConnect Apps, satellite radio, navigation, voice recognition, and a 10-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system. It does not include Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The new engine improves fuel economy by 1 mpg in combined driving for rear-wheel-drive models and 2 mpg for four-wheel-drive models. The expert review also notes an average of 19.3 mpg on its testing loop, versus an EPA estimate of 19 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2020 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2020 Nissan Frontier is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, PRO-4X, Value Truck Package, and Midnight Edition Package.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the most affordable path into the Frontier, and it makes the most sense if you want the truck’s basic capability at the lowest price. It is the trim to target if value matters most and you can live without the nicer appearance and equipment upgrades found higher up.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more equipment without pushing you all the way to the specialty models. It also offers package options that can make the truck feel more useful and better equipped.
• PRO-4X: This is the one to buy if you want the Frontier’s off-road character. It adds the most distinctive hardware and appearance touches, plus the off-road shocks that support its rugged personality.

The safety package is limited across the lineup, so don’t expect a trim-level leap in driver-assistance technology.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Nissan Frontier?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 877 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,826, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $21,127 sits slightly below last year's $22,550.

That price movement suggests the Frontier has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. Because the market has softened, your downside risk is lower than it would be if prices were still climbing. If you choose a clean, well-kept example, you’re more likely to preserve value than if you buy a rough truck with accident history or visible wear.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2020 Nissan Frontier earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with three-star ratings for the driver in frontal impact, two-star ratings for the front passenger in frontal impact, and a three-star rollover resistance rating for RWD models. It also earns a marginal rating in the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact test and a poor rating for headlights.

It earns a 1/10 safety score from our experts.

The Frontier’s standard safety equipment is limited to a reversing camera, antilock brakes, traction control, and stability control. That’s a thin list for a midsize pickup, and the crash-test results reinforce the need to be cautious if safety is a priority.

Should I buy a 2020 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Nissan’s new 3.8-liter V6 and nine-speed automatic give this year a notably stronger powertrain than the truck’s aging design might suggest.

The bottom line: The 2020 Frontier makes sense if you want the updated engine and transmission in the old-school Frontier formula, especially if you value simplicity and can find a clean example at a good price. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to shop carefully and compare nearby years, but the 2020 is the version that best blends the truck’s classic character with its strongest mechanical update.
