Used 2020 Mazda CX-30 for Sale near Illinois

How much does the 2020 Mazda CX-30 cost?

Prices have softened 2.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 563 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Mazda CX-30 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Mazda CX-30 earns a 4.57/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, interior quality, and performance, and many say it feels on par with more expensive brands. The overview also points to a crossover that gives you extra ground clearance and easier entry and exit, which makes it appealing if you want a small SUV that feels a bit more upscale than average.

The main trade-offs are that it gives up some of the Mazda3’s sharper driving dynamics and that it lacks a few features competitors offer. The market still looks supportive, with 35.2% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2020 Mazda CX-30 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.57/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary describes it as a great value, and it emphasizes the kind of stylish, well-designed ownership experience that tends to build confidence over time. The expert evaluation also supports that impression by highlighting refinement, communicative steering, and a quiet cabin, all of which point to a vehicle that should feel solid in everyday use.

Mazda also includes a free 3-year trial subscription to Mazda Connected Services, which adds some ownership convenience. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the vehicle has been maintained properly and hasn’t picked up hidden wear from prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Mazda CX-30?

At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition details that matter most in a used crossover: bodywork, tire wear, interior condition, and whether the safety and tech features operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base versions miss some desirable equipment, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while Select adds dark tinted rear privacy glass and 18-inch wheels. Premium brings the most upscale feel, including paddle shifters, satellite radio, a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, and a head-up display.
• Powertrain: The CX-30 uses a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 6-speed sport automatic transmission. AWD is optional, and the setup includes an off-road traction assist system.
• Safety package: Every CX-30 includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, a reversing camera, a driver monitoring system, automatic high-beam LED headlights, rain-sensing automatic wipers, and 911 automatic emergency notification. Select adds blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning, while Premium adds adaptive front lights.
• Infotainment: The CX-30 uses an 8.8-inch static display, and it does not use a touchscreen. Bluetooth calling and music streaming, text messaging support, HD Radio, a Pandora internet radio app, and Mazda Connected Services are standard, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require Select trim.
• Fuel efficiency: The AWD model is rated at 27 mpg in combined driving, and the test loop returned 23.9 mpg.

Which 2020 Mazda CX-30 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Mazda CX-30 is offered in 3 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Premium.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the best-value choice if you want the biggest jump in everyday usability, because it adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, dark tinted rear privacy glass, and 18-inch wheels.
• Preferred: This trim makes sense if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay more for added comfort and convenience, but the core value story still starts with Select.
• Premium: Choose this if you want the most complete CX-30 experience, including paddle shifters, satellite radio, a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, a head-up display, and adaptive front lights.

Premium trim is the one tied to the best headlights and the strongest IIHS result.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Mazda CX-30?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 563 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,020, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Mazda CX-30's resale value?

The current average of $18,736 sits slightly below last year's $19,157.

That decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. A softer price trend usually means future sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out.

Even so, the CX-30’s strong reputation for style, safety, and overall value should help it remain appealing to used shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Mazda CX-30 safe?

The 2020 Mazda CX-30 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and five-star ratings in every crash test from NHTSA, combined with a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every CX-30 includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, a reversing camera, a driver monitoring system, automatic high-beam LED headlights, rain-sensing automatic wipers, and 911 automatic emergency notification. Select trim adds blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning, while Premium adds adaptive front lights.

One important caveat is that the standard headlights are rated Poor by IIHS, so Premium trim is the safer pick if you want the strongest headlight performance.

Should I buy a 2020 Mazda CX-30 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers strong safety, with a Top Safety Pick rating and five-star NHTSA crash results.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,428, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $18,736 average.
• It adds a turbocharged powertrain and a more premium-feeling package.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it combines lower pricing, solid inventory, and strong safety. If you’re willing to spend more for extra power and a more upscale feel, the 2021 is the better upgrade path.
