Overview

For 2019, the Continental got new standard safety features and a Coach Door limited edition. Competitors include the Cadillac XTS and CT6, Audi A7, BMW 6 Series, and Genesis G90. Lincoln hasn’t shared many details about the 2020 Continental except that it plans to release more Coach Door editions, but we otherwise expect it to carry over unchanged.
The Continental offsets its visual bulk with smooth lines and clean edges, and it enhances the premium feel with HID and LED lighting. The Coach Door edition features a wheelbase roughly 6-inches longer to accommodate the extra door length.
All three engines are expected to carry over. The base is a 3.7-liter 6-cylinder rated for 305 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, followed by a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter 6-cylinder rated for 335 hp and 380 lb-ft. The top engine is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder rated for 400 hp and 400 lb-ft. All three get a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive (FWD) comes standard, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is available. For the most efficient combination, look for a Continental with the base engine and FWD, rated for 18 mpg city, 27 highway, and 21 combined.
The Continental seats five passengers across two rows. The base trim, called simply the Continental, provides heated front seats and ambient lighting. The Select trim comes with 19-inch wheels, leather upholstery, and a hands-free trunk. Reserve adds 3-zone climate control and some safety features. The top-end Black Label provides Venetian leather seats and offers heated rear seats and interior packages for specific trim combinations. The Coach Door edition features large doors that open to 90 degrees for dramatic ingress and egress.
An 8-inch touchscreen display, 10-speaker audio system, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and 4G LTE capability come standard. Options include navigation, HD Radio, and 13- and 19-speaker Revel audio systems.
The 2019 Continental earned a 5-Star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Standard safety features include a reversing camera, automatic emergency response, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring, and the MyKey system. For additional features, Lincoln offers a 360-degree camera, pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display (HUD).
Potential buyers should consider buying a Lincoln Continental sooner rather than later. Though Lincoln hasn’t confirmed the Continental’s future beyond the coming year, all signs point to a graceful exit. As it was in 2019, the Coach Door edition will be limited for 2020.

What a beautiful car. Decided to buy a final Ford/Lincoln car seeing as Lincoln is no longer producing them. Decided to look for a gently used 2020 Lincoln Continental sedan. And I found it on CarGurus. Wanted the vehicle to have AWD- it does! Wanted the vehicle to have a 3.7 V6 engine- it does.! High quality leather interior and all the bells and whistles as far as technology. As we all know pricing can be arbitrary on these vehicles, but I managed to find one, competitively priced and in like-new condition.

How much does the 2020 Lincoln Continental cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $25,646 |
| Year-Round Low | $25,631.36 |
| Year-Round High | $28,451.32 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $28,232 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.16% |
Prices have softened 9.16% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 100 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $25,631.36, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2020 Lincoln Continental a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Lincoln Continental earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.
Owners consistently praise its stunning looks, luxurious comfort, and wide range of features. Comfort stands out in particular, with many drivers highlighting the seats as especially supportive for those with back issues.
The market also shows 28.0% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Lincoln Continental reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also emphasizes that the car feels dependable in daily use, with comfort and feature content contributing to a trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers. That kind of praise suggests you should focus on examples that have been well maintained and consistently cared for.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about finding a car whose condition matches its premium positioning.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Lincoln Continental?
At 70% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any car that looks especially attractive on price. Pay close attention to body condition, repair quality, and signs that the car has been maintained consistently.
Because this model is often bought for comfort and features, make sure the interior, electronics, and seat condition match the seller’s description.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Lincoln Continental?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a standout deal.
- Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 100 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.16% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 70.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $25,631.36, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Lincoln Continental's resale value?
The current average of $25,646 sits slightly below last year's $28,232.
That softer pricing suggests buyers have more leverage today, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about where the market is headed. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 Lincoln Continental or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 70% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.16% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line:
If you want the strongest mix of value and owner satisfaction, the 2020 is the primary path to consider, especially because prices have eased and there are still enough listings to compare. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to widen your search to nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than the cheapest one.
