How much does the 2020 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 13.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,186 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.38/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the rugged design, off-road capability, and the comfort and modern features that make daily use easier, including heated seats. The overview also points to its strong brand identity and real off-road credibility, which are central to its appeal.

The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is a recurring complaint, and some owners also mention noise levels and missing features such as adaptive cruise control. In practical terms, this is a strong fit if you want a distinctive SUV with real trail ability, but less compelling if quiet commuting and efficiency matter most.

Good and great deals account for 36.0% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners’ feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, especially those who value the Wrangler’s rugged character over refinement. The expert review also emphasizes that the Wrangler is built for a lifestyle of getting off the beaten path, which reinforces its long-term durability-minded appeal.

The diesel option adds torque and a distinctive character, but it also comes with added complexity and fuel-cost considerations. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is more about choosing the right configuration and condition than about the model’s core reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has been used off-road. Focus on wear items, signs of trail damage, and whether the equipment level matches what you want for daily use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is very bare-bones, with a 5-inch touchscreen, manual windows and locks, and little else. The Sport S adds power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry, while the Sahara brings a more upscale feel with body-color fender flares, 18-inch alloy wheels, and bigger brakes. The Rubicon is the most trail-focused version, with a lifted off-road suspension and big mud-terrain tires.
• Powertrain: The base 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and a turbocharged 4-cylinder is also available with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft. The new 3.0-liter turbodiesel makes 260 hp and 442 lb-ft, and it delivers the strongest low-speed torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes airbags, electronic roll mitigation, and a backup camera. The base safety package adds rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control and full-speed forward-collision warning.
• Infotainment: The Sport and Sport S use a 5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and USB. The Rubicon and Sahara come standard with a 7-inch touchscreen with Uconnect, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, and an available 8.4-inch system adds navigation, HD Radio, real-time traffic and weather updates, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined. The most efficient gas-powered version returns 21 mpg city, 22 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2020 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most affordable entry point, but it is very sparse, with manual windows and locks and a basic 5-inch touchscreen. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and plan to add equipment carefully.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. It also opens the door to the Technology Package and Cold Weather Group, which make the Wrangler much easier to live with.
• Sahara: This is the comfort-leaning choice, with a more upscale look, standard 7-inch infotainment, and access to more luxury-oriented options like leather seating and the hardtop with interior headliner. It suits you best if you want a Wrangler that feels more polished on the road.
• Rubicon: This is the most capable off-road trim, with a lifted suspension, mud-terrain tires, and the most serious trail hardware. Choose it if off-road performance matters more than everyday comfort.

The safety packages are worth considering on any trim, especially if you want blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, or adaptive cruise control.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,186 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,854, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $24,854 sits slightly below last year's $28,572.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle is equipped.

Wranglers with desirable trims and strong maintenance histories should remain easier to move than stripped or heavily worn examples. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes airbags, electronic roll mitigation, and a backup camera. The base safety package adds rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control and full-speed forward-collision warning.

That said, the Wrangler’s awkward sightlines make the available driver-assistance features especially valuable, and you should pay close attention to whether a used example has the safety package you want.

Should I buy a 2020 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 adds a new diesel engine that brings stronger low-speed torque and broadens the powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,176, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $24,854 average.
• It adds a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and a Hemi V8.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and a wider pool of used listings, the 2020 is the smarter starting point. If you are willing to pay more for newer powertrain choices, the 2021 is the better path for shoppers who want maximum variety.
