How much does the 2020 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 7.43% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,594 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2020 Honda Pilot a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Honda Pilot earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, responsive handling, and overall comfort. The review summary also points to strong performance and fuel efficiency, which helps reinforce its appeal as a practical family SUV.

The main trade-offs are its unintuitive technology and interior materials that can feel cheap. The overview also frames it as a vehicle that prioritizes everyday usefulness over flash, which fits buyers who value space and comfort more than standout styling.

With 33.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

Is the 2020 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a dependable ownership experience through its strong performance, comfort, and fuel efficiency. It also highlights the spacious interior and responsive handling, which are the kinds of traits that usually support confidence over time.

The expert review reinforces that the Pilot is built around everyday usefulness and a refined, comfortable driving experience. It also notes that the 9-speed automatic should pay dividends on fuel economy in the better-equipped trims.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may have been used hard for family hauling or towing, so condition matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda Pilot?

At 69.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with family-hauling duty. Focus on signs of wear in the cabin, evidence of past body repair, and whether the technology and controls work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, remote keyless entry, push-button start, power locks, and power windows with a one-touch driver’s window. The EX adds remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, LED fog lights, Smart Entry, tri-zone climate control, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and heated front seats. The EX-L adds leather upholstery, a power liftgate, a power moonroof, second-row in-door sunshades, and a 4-way power-adjustable front passenger’s seat. Touring adds 20-inch alloy wheels, integrated roof rails, blue ambient interior lighting, an upgraded stereo, and courtesy approach lights. Elite adds power-folding side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a panoramic sunroof, a heated steering wheel, and heated and ventilated front seats. Black Edition adds unique black-painted wheels and black exterior accents, with nearly the same content as Elite.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. LX, EX, and EX-L use a 6-speed automatic, while Touring, Elite, and Black Edition use a 9-speed automatic that provides more refined acceleration and should help fuel economy. FWD is standard, with AWD available.
• Safety package: HondaSensing is standard and includes forward-collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Front and side-impact airbags, child-seat anchors, Vehicle Stability Assist, and traction control are also standard. Front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert are optional.
• Infotainment: LX gets a 5-inch color LCD screen, Bluetooth, USB, and a 215-watt, 7-speaker stereo with a subwoofer. All other trims get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. HD Radio, SiriusXM, and Cabin Control Remote Capability are included on all but LX. Navigation, rear-seat entertainment, and a wall-style power outlet are optional on EX-L and standard on Touring, Elite, and Black Edition.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient setup is FWD with the 9-speed automatic at 20 mpg city, 27 highway, and 23 combined. AWD with the 9-speed returns 19 mpg city, 27 highway, and 22 combined. The 6-speed FWD setup returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, and 22 combined, while the 6-speed AWD setup returns 18 mpg city, 26 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2020 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda Pilot is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, Elite, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the Pilot, but it’s also the most basic. You get the core space and V6 power, yet the smaller 5-inch screen and simpler equipment make it the trim most likely to feel stripped down if you want modern convenience features.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It adds the features many buyers will actually use every day, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, remote start, heated front seats, tri-zone climate control, and Smart Entry, making it the sweet spot for value and usability.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale family SUV without jumping too far in price. Leather, a power liftgate, a moonroof, and second-row sunshades make it a strong comfort-focused step up from EX.
• Touring: This trim adds more premium touches, including the upgraded stereo, roof rails, and larger wheels, plus the 9-speed automatic. It makes sense if you want a better-equipped long-distance cruiser.
• Elite: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and power-folding mirrors. It’s the right pick if you want the most comfort and convenience.
• Black Edition: This is the style-focused top trim, with blacked-out exterior details and unique wheels. It’s best if you want the most distinctive look and nearly all the Elite’s equipment.

HondaSensing is standard across the lineup, so even the lower trims get the core safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda Pilot?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,594 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.43% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,138, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $22,138 sits slightly below last year's $23,915.

That decline suggests the Pilot has softened in the used market, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. A lower current average price can make it easier to attract shoppers, but it also means you may need to price competitively if you want a quick sale.

The year-round range is fairly tight, which points to a market that is still active but not overheated. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than rougher ones, especially if they have strong service history and clean accident records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda Pilot safe?

The Honda Pilot earns a five-star overall crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the best crash test score of Good from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

HondaSensing is standard and includes forward-collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Front and side-impact airbags, child-seat anchors, Vehicle Stability Assist, and traction control are also standard.

Optional safety equipment includes front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. That means the core safety package is strong, but some helpful driver-assistance features still depend on trim or option selection.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for its standard HondaSensing safety suite and roomy, family-friendly cabin.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $24,810, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,138 average.
• It keeps the Pilot’s practical, comfortable character while leaning more into interior, powertrain, and technology appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the stronger buy because prices are softer and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative for shoppers who want to compare nearby options before deciding.
