CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Honda Fit
Summary
With 283 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,877, 27.2% of 2020 Honda Fit listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Honda Fit 4.6 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2020 Honda Fit stands out as a small hatchback that makes unusually smart use of its footprint. Honda’s Magic Seat system returns, and the Fit’s interior remains a major strength, with rear legroom that was increased by 4.9 inches over the already spacious second-generation Fit. Cargo room is also a highlight, measuring 16.6 cubic feet with the rear seat up and 52.7 cubic feet with it folded. For buyers who want a compact car that feels practical rather than cramped, that packaging is a big part of the Fit’s appeal.
The 2020 model also benefits from the third-generation updates that gave the Fit more modern equipment and better refinement. The 2018 update brought refreshed exterior styling, improved sound deadening, updated suspension settings, and an available Sport trim level, while the infotainment system became compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Honda Sensing driver-assistance features were also available, including adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking on certain models. For 2020, Honda dropped the manual transmission from EX models and removed navigation from the options list.
Even so, the Fit’s strengths are balanced by a few drawbacks. The buying guide notes that the Fit can be noisy at highway speeds and that its technology is outdated, and owner feedback points to uncomfortable seats and a backup camera that could be better. Still, the 2020 Honda Fit remains appealing because it combines strong fuel economy, a roomy cabin, and clever versatility in a package that is easy to live with.

This (sadly) will be our last Fit as Honda chose to discontinue marketing them in North America in 2020. Weve owned four. The magic seat is unique amongst sub compacts. It provides the perfect mix of loads of cargo space and great fuel economy. Our dealer said in North America the market is for trucks and power. And they said this model is not profitable for Honda. They still sell in Europe and Japan. We do hope they will bring them back.

So far I have driven the Honda fit for about two weeks and I completely love it. The interior is very great, featuring a touch screen that allows you to access features like your phone’s map app, your phone contact list and your phone’s music apps through apple car play. The dash board includes an analog speedometer, with a cool modern design, an electronic odometer and a tachometer. The car has great very gas milage and just takes about an average of about 17-25 dollars( as of gas prices in 2023) to fill the tank half way ( I always fill my tank every week after driving an average of about 200 miles each week). To save even more money in gas you can enable eco mode on the Honda fit by pressing the green button on bottom left side under the dash board. The car drives very smooth and engine is very quiet. The gear shift is very nice and comes with sport gear. The cargo space in the available at back of the car great and even more space can be produce if you lower the back seats. As you can see the car feature, with a gas mileage almost comparable to a Prius and smooth drive comparable to a Honda accord, I believe the Honda fit is worth the price it is advertised for.

After intensive research and test drives of different vehicles, I am so happy that I purchased the Honda Fit. It is perfect for me! I like its small size, but it is still roomy inside. It is loaded with safety features and the latest technology. Its especially convenient that the back seat flips up (called magic seat) to accommodate stashing tall items if needed. For me, its everything I could want in a car.

I love this car. I thought it was great value. Maybe a Toyota Yaris would compare to it. Maybe a Chevy Spark. It makes me happy to drive this car. It has great side view mirrors. I feel confident that I can see whats around me. Its remarkably roomy inside.

How much does the 2020 Honda Fit cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,856 |
| Year-Round Low | $15,574 |
| Year-Round High | $18,265 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $17,016 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +4.94% |
Prices are up 4.94% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 280 listings available, which gives you a moderate amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2020 Honda Fit a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Honda Fit earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, impressive cargo space, and excellent fuel economy, and many also like the clever Magic Seat setup and overall value for money. For you, that means the Fit makes the most sense if you want a compact hatchback that feels practical rather than cramped. With 27.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2020 Honda Fit reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback also highlights the Fit as dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, with owners especially appreciating its long-term value, fuel economy, and clever packaging. That combination suggests the car can be a sensible choice if you want something you can count on for routine commuting and errands.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core formula and more about finding a well-kept example with the right maintenance history and condition.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda Fit?
At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. A pre-purchase inspection is also worth prioritizing, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings at similar prices. Focus on overall condition, seat wear, and how well the cabin and backup camera function, since those are the kinds of details that can affect your day-to-day satisfaction.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda Fit?
This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when you find a strong listing.
- Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 280 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 4.94% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 55.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,574, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Honda Fit's resale value?
The current average of $17,856 sits slightly above last year's $17,016.
That upward movement suggests the Fit has held buyer interest well, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A model that stays in demand while inventory remains limited can be easier to move at a competitive price. If you buy a clean example and keep it in good condition, you’re more likely to preserve value over time.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 Honda Fit or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 4.94% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2020 Fit is the better pick if you want the latest version of this generation’s practical packaging and you’re willing to shop carefully for a clean, fairly priced example. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby older year may be worth considering, especially if you can find a lower-mileage car with a strong history and similar equipment.
