How much does the 2020 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 5.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,498 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Honda CR-V earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, excellent features, and strong performance, and they also value the advanced technology and safety features for the price. The main trade-offs are the dated technology and the interior materials, which some owners feel are cheap.

That lines up with the CR-V’s role as a practical compact SUV: it is easy to live with, broadly appealing, and aimed at shoppers who want competence over flash. With 36.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle people feel good about keeping, with praise for its overall dependability, strong performance, and the sense that it is a trustworthy everyday SUV. The expert assessment also emphasizes that Honda has had years to smooth out the CR-V formula into a comfortable, capable package that feels well sorted.

Honda’s new engine for this year also helps the CR-V feel like a more complete value, which can matter over the long haul if you want a used SUV that should stay easy to live with. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the core formula and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

At 68.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. It is also smart to focus on the condition of the interior, infotainment system, and safety equipment, since those are the areas where this model year’s strengths and weaknesses are most likely to show up in daily use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the base front-wheel-drive model and is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add the larger screen, smartphone integration, blind-spot monitoring, heated seats, a moonroof, leather upholstery, and other comfort upgrades. The EX is the best-value choice because it adds the features many shoppers will miss most.
• Powertrain: The lineup uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT. It is tuned for efficiency and easy drivability rather than excitement.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, road-departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitoring are only on EX trims and above.
• Infotainment: The LX gets a 5-inch screen, while higher trims use a 7-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available only with the larger screen, and the Touring adds Honda navigation plus wireless phone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD models are rated at 30 miles per gallon combined, while AWD models are rated at 29.

Which 2020 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda CR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is the easiest trim to outgrow because it lacks the larger infotainment screen and smartphone integration that make the CR-V feel more modern. It makes sense only if you are focused on the lowest possible price.
• EX: This is the best-value trim because it adds the larger touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, blind-spot monitoring, heated seats, rear privacy glass, a moonroof, keyless entry, and a better audio system.
• EX-L: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale cabin, since it adds leather upholstery, a power passenger seat, a power tailgate, and a built-in garage door opener.
• Touring: This is the top trim and brings the most equipment, including navigation, wireless phone charging, heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, and LED headlights. It is the most complete version, but it is also the least compelling value.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitoring remain reserved for EX trims and above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,498 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,316, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $22,812 sits slightly below last year's $24,085.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the CR-V still has broad appeal, but pricing momentum is softer than it was a year ago.

Even so, a model with strong owner satisfaction tends to hold buyer interest better than one with lukewarm feedback. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2020 Honda CR-V earned a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in the frontal crash test, five-star ratings in the side crash test, and four-star ratings in the rollover test. It also earned a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS, with caveats for trims below Touring because their halogen headlights scored only Marginal.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, road-departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist. Automatic high beams are also standard, while blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitoring are limited to EX trims and above.

The main safety caveat is the headlight performance on lower trims, since the Touring’s LED headlights are the only ones that avoid the weaker IIHS result. If nighttime visibility matters to you, that trim-level difference is worth paying attention to.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year’s engine and safety upgrades improve fuel economy and value.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $20,700, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $22,812 average.
• It is refined, roomy, and historically reliable.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $24,226, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,812 average.
• It emphasizes broad appeal, cargo space, and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the right pick if you want the updated engine, strong safety equipment, and a market that still offers decent deal potential. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the better value play; if you want to compare against a newer model, the 2021 is worth a look but usually costs more.
