How much does the 2020 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 5.29% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,432 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Honda CR-V earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, excellent features, and strong performance, and many also value the advanced technology and safety features for the price. The main trade-offs are that some shoppers want more options such as parking sensors and built-in navigation, and a few owners feel it is overpriced.

That lines up with the CR-V’s role as a practical compact SUV for you if you want an easy-to-live-with crossover with broad appeal rather than a flashy one. It also helps that 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as dependable, with praise centered on a vehicle that feels easy to live with over time and worth counting on for everyday use. The expert review also emphasizes that Honda has smoothed out the CR-V’s formula over years of refinement, which supports the sense that it is built for steady long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about the CR-V’s basic reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by age or heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on the condition of the interior, electronics, and safety equipment, since those are the areas where wear and trim differences can matter most on a used compact SUV.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most stripped-down version, with a smaller 5-inch screen and fewer convenience features than higher trims. EX, EX-L, and Touring add progressively more equipment, with the Touring bringing the most upscale touches.
• Powertrain: The 2020 CR-V uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a CVT, and it is tuned for efficiency as well as everyday drivability.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard, with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, road-departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitoring are limited to EX trims and above.
• Infotainment: The LX gets a 5-inch screen, while higher trims use a 7-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available only with the larger screen, and the Touring adds wireless phone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD models are rated at 30 mpg combined, while AWD models are rated at 29 mpg combined.

Which 2020 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda CR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is the easiest trim to outgrow because it lacks the larger screen and smartphone integration that make the CR-V feel more current. It makes sense only if you are chasing the lowest possible price.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the larger infotainment screen, smartphone integration, blind-spot monitoring, heated seats, a moonroof, keyless entry, and a better audio system. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• EX-L: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale cabin, since it adds leather upholstery, a power passenger seat, a power tailgate, and a built-in garage door opener. It is a good step up if comfort matters more than keeping costs down.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with features like a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, and LED headlights. It is the right pick if you want the most premium CR-V experience, though the added cost is harder to justify than the EX or EX-L.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitoring are limited to EX trims and above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,432 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.29% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,319, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $22,430 sits slightly below last year's $23,682.

That softer pricing suggests the CR-V has become a little more buyer-friendly in the used market, which can help you if you are shopping now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, since the market is already showing some downward pressure.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2020 Honda CR-V earned a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA, including five stars in the frontal crash test, five stars in the side crash test, and four stars in the rollover test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, road-departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitoring are standard only on EX trims and above.

One caveat is that IIHS noted marginal halogen headlight performance on trims below Touring, so the Touring’s LED headlights are the safer choice if nighttime visibility matters to you.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year adds engine and safety upgrades that improve fuel economy and value.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $20,447, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $22,430 average.
• It is refined, roomy, and historically reliable.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $23,979, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,430 average.
• It emphasizes cargo space, standard advanced safety features, and strong value.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the right middle ground if you want the updated engine and safety improvements without paying more for the next model year. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 is the better value play; if you want to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2021 is the natural step up.
