How much does the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo cost?

Prices have softened 8.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,992 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare by roof height, wheelbase, and equipment.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.6/5, and the expert rating is 7.7/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, solid build, and good fuel mileage, and they also describe it as easy to drive in tight city settings. The Transit Cargo’s versatility and comfortable cabin fit well if you need a work van that can be tailored to different jobs. On the trade-off side, the expert review points to fairly pedestrian performance and notes that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

For businesses and drivers who want a practical commercial van with multiple body styles and a more refined feel than many work-focused rivals, it makes a strong case. It also shows 26.9% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a solid build and a vehicle that feels dependable in everyday use, while the expert review describes it as a versatile blank canvas that’s built for real work. The cost-effectiveness notes also emphasize that commercial vans like this have become nicer places to spend long hours, with modern conveniences and useful fleet-oriented tech.

For a used buyer, the main long-term risk is less about outright complexity and more about how hard the van was worked, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Transit Cargo?

At 66.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of body panels, cargo-area wear, and signs of heavy commercial use. Because these vans are often configured and worked very differently, condition can vary widely from one listing to the next. Focus on how the van was maintained, whether the equipment matches your needs, and whether any prior damage affects the structure or drivability.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Transit is offered in cargo, passenger, and crew body styles, and the cargo version comes with sparse standard equipment such as 16-inch steel wheels, power-adjustable side mirrors, power locks and windows, manually adjusting front seats, air conditioning, Bluetooth, dual USB ports, and a 4.0-inch display. Higher equipment can add heated seats, a touchscreen infotainment system, remote keyless entry, remote start, and upgraded upholstery.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 3.5-liter V6 with 275 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, and an optional 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 brings 310 hp and 400 lb-ft for stronger acceleration. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: Ford made forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams standard for 2020. Optional equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, front-and-rear parking sensors, cross-traffic alert, and a front/rear split-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The base system uses a 4.0-inch display with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, while the available SYNC 3 setup uses an 8.0-inch touchscreen and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. FordPass Connect with a 4G WiFi modem is also standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The cost-effectiveness notes cite 15 mpg city and 19 highway for the naturally aspirated V6 in the passenger van, and the test vehicle averaged 16.7 miles per gallon in combined driving.

Which 2020 Ford Transit Cargo trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford Transit Cargo is offered in 3 trim levels: T-150, T-250, T-350.

Here's the short version:

• T-150: This is the trim you’d look at if you want the most straightforward entry point into the Transit Cargo lineup. It gives you the core work-van setup and is the best fit if you want to keep the purchase simple while still getting the Transit’s practical layout and standard safety tech.
• T-250: This is the best-value trim if you want a step up in capability without moving all the way to the top of the range. It makes sense if you need more van than the T-150 but still want to stay focused on utility rather than extra equipment.
• T-350: Choose this if your work demands the most capability in the lineup and you want the most robust version of the Transit Cargo. It suits buyers who care more about maximum utility than keeping the purchase as lean as possible.

Ford’s standard driver-assistance package is a meaningful plus across the lineup, but advanced safety features beyond that are still not standard everywhere.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Transit Cargo?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully but not so much that every listing is a bargain.

• Deal availability: 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,992 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,484, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo's resale value?

The current average of $22,484 sits slightly below last year's $24,523.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady if you decide to sell later. For a future seller, the key is to preserve condition and documentation, because commercial vans can vary a lot in wear and tear. Listings with cleaner histories and better equipment should be easier to position against the broader market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo safe?

The 2020 Ford Transit Cargo earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford made forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams standard for 2020. Blind-spot monitoring, front-and-rear parking sensors, cross-traffic alert, and a front/rear split-view camera system are available, which helps address some of the visibility challenges that come with a commercial van. The review also notes that the Transit’s large windows and side mirrors provide strong sight lines, though the rear-door pillar creates a small blind spot in the mirror view.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford Transit Cargo or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 update brought new standard safety tech and new powertrain options, which makes it feel more modern than many work-focused vans.

The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date version of this van’s core formula, the 2020 is the one to target. If your priority is simply getting into a Transit Cargo at the lowest possible price, a nearby older year may be worth a look, but you’ll want to compare equipment and condition closely.
