Used 2020 Ford Ranger for Sale nearProvidence, RI

How much does the 2020 Ford Ranger cost?

Prices have softened 8.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,536 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Ford Ranger a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Ford Ranger earns a 4.79/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise its great value, enjoyable driving experience, comfortable ride, sufficient power, and high-quality features. The Ranger’s strengths also line up with its use case as a midsize pickup that can handle towing, hauling, weekend projects, and outdoor gear without stepping up to a larger truck.

The trade-offs are clear: the cabin materials feel cheap, and advanced safety features are not standard. It also leans more toward utility and technology than everyday refinement.

Good and great deals account for 32.1% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.79/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting value, comfort, and confidence in the truck’s overall package. The expert evaluation also describes the Ranger as a balanced midsize truck that does what is asked of it without falling below average in key areas.

The Ranger’s straightforward single-engine setup and mature platform support that impression of durability. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure prior use and maintenance history are clean, especially given the recall tied to the ten-speed automatic transmission.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Ranger?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the transmission, brakes, tires, and signs of hard use, since this is a truck that may have been asked to tow, haul, or spend time off pavement. Focus on overall condition, not just mileage, because interior wear and evidence of heavy-duty use can matter as much as the odometer.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XL is the most basic version, with vinyl floors, manual air conditioning, cloth upholstery, and manually adjustable front seats. The XLT adds more everyday convenience and is the best-value choice, while the Lariat brings the most upscale cabin materials and comfort features.
• Powertrain: All trims use a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder with 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, paired with a ten-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with available four-wheel drive and low-range gearing.
• Safety package: Ford CoPilot 360 on the XLT adds lane-departure warning and avoidance, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse parking sensors. An available Technology Package adds forward parking sensors and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The XLT upgrades to SYNC 3 with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice-activated navigation, and pinch-to-zoom functionality. The XL stays basic with an AM/FM stereo, four speakers, Bluetooth, and a USB port.
• Fuel efficiency: Rear-wheel-drive models return 21 mpg city, 26 highway, 23 combined, while 4WD models return 22 mpg city, 24 highway, 22 combined.

Which 2020 Ford Ranger trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford Ranger is offered in 3 trim levels: XL, XLT, and Lariat.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the entry point, and it keeps costs down with vinyl floors, manual air conditioning, cloth upholstery, and basic tech. It makes sense if you want the Ranger’s core capability at the lowest price, but it is the least appealing choice for most shoppers.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim. It adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Ford CoPilot 360. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• Lariat: This is the most upscale version, with leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, push-button start, ambient cabin lighting, and a premium B&O sound system. Choose it if you want the most comfort and convenience features.

Ford CoPilot 360 is standard starting on the XLT, so that trim is the easiest way to get the Ranger’s broader safety and driver-assistance coverage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Ranger?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,536 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.84% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,762, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $24,062 sits slightly below last year's $26,394.

That price movement suggests the Ranger has already absorbed some of its recent depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. If you buy at the right price and keep the truck in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later. The Ranger’s broad appeal as a capable midsize pickup should continue to support demand, especially for well-kept examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.79/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford Ranger safe?

The Ranger earns Good ratings from IIHS in driver’s-side small-overlap, moderate-overlap, side, and roof-strength crash tests, and it earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA. It earns five-star ratings in most NHTSA crash tests, four-star ratings in front passenger side testing, and three-star ratings in rollover crash testing.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, a child-seat anchoring system, a tire-pressure monitoring system, automatic headlights, automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, and pedestrian detection. Ford CoPilot 360 on the XLT adds lane-departure warning and avoidance, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse parking sensors. An available Technology Package adds forward parking sensors and adaptive cruise control.

The main caveat is that advanced driver-assistance features are not standard on the base trim, so you should pay close attention to trim level if safety tech matters to you.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.79/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 Ranger balances capability, technology, and towing strength while keeping fuel economy respectable for a pickup.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $22,466, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $24,062 average.
• It offers a simpler, value-focused return of the Ranger with a single engine and transmission pairing.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $26,126, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $24,062 average.
• It adds a more serious off-road identity with Tremor equipment for rough terrain.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the best all-around pick if you want the Ranger’s core strengths at a more favorable price than the newer model year. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2019 can save you money, while the 2021 makes sense if you want to pay more for a stronger off-road focus.
