overall

Summary
With 9,527 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,926.00, 30.8% of 2020 Ford F-150s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford F-150 4.72 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.
78.5% of 2020 F-150 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford F-150 stands out as a full-size pickup that tries to balance everyday comfort with real work capability. It offers an accommodating and modern interior, comfortable road manners, and a lineup of engines that provide the power and torque needed to hold its own at the worksite. That combination makes it appealing to buyers who want a truck that can serve as a commuter, family hauler, and tow vehicle without feeling out of place in any of those roles.
It also brings some clear strengths beyond utility. The F-150 boasts outstanding tech and comfort features, and its stylish design helps it feel more polished than a purely work-focused truck. At the same time, it is not perfect: advanced safety features are not standard, and the interior materials feel cheap. Even so, the 2020 Ford F-150 remains distinctive because it delivers broad capability with a cabin and ride quality aimed at making daily use easier.

Reviewed a 2020 Ford F-150 on Oct 22, 2025
The 2020 Raptor gets almost everything right — performance, comfort, design, and capability. It’s not just a truck; it’s an experience. Every time I drive it, it reminds me why this model has such a loyal following. ⸻ What I Think of Its Features The twin-turbo 3.5 L EcoBoost engine delivers incredible power and torque, and the 10-speed transmission keeps it smooth whether you’re cruising the highway or tearing up dirt roads. The suspension is what truly sets it apart — it absorbs rough terrain like it’s nothing, but somehow still rides comfortably on pavement. Inside, it’s spacious, refined, and well-equipped. The technology and controls are intuitive, and even though it’s built for off-road performance, it doesn’t sacrifice daily comfort. It feels just as confident on a long trip as it does on a back trail. ⸻ Is It a Good Value? Yes — for the right driver. You’re paying for both capability and character. If you’ll actually use what it was built for — adventure, off-road travel, or simply having the most capable full-size truck on the road — then it’s worth every dollar. Of course, if you’re buying it just for city commuting, the value depends on how much you want the performance and presence. Fuel economy and tire wear are part of the trade-off, but the Raptor delivers something few trucks can: it makes driving fun again. ⸻ What It’s Missing No vehicle is perfect. The Raptor’s towing capacity isn’t as high as some other F-150 models, and it’s definitely a large truck to maneuver in tight parking lots. It also drinks more fuel than your average pickup, and parts like the suspension or tires cost more to replace. But for me, those drawbacks are minor compared to what it offers in power, confidence, and enjoyment. ⸻ What I’d Compare It To If you want to compare, the Ram 1500 TRX is the closest rival — louder, heavier, and a bit wilder. The Raptor, though, strikes a better balance between power and everyday drivability. I’d also compare it to the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss or GMC AT4 for someone who wants off-road ability without going full performance truck. ⸻ Overall The 2020 Raptor is one of those rare trucks that feels alive. It’s strong, capable, and surprisingly refined. Whether you’re driving across the country or exploring back roads, it’s a truck that makes you want to keep going. That’s why I gave it a perfect 5-star rating.

The picture is deceiving. It’s actually missing driver side running board. And the inside was very dirty. Back head rest was also missing.

Is the 2020 Ford F-150 a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Ford F-150 earns a 4.72/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating.
The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.
Owners consistently praise its power, smooth ride, and interior comfort, and they also call out the engine lineup as a major strength. The truck’s broad capability and comfortable road manners make it appealing if you want one vehicle that can handle commuting, family duty, and towing. The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and the interior materials feel cheap.
That mix fits especially well if you want a full-size pickup that feels usable every day without giving up work-truck capability. Good and great deals account for 27.6% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Ford F-150 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.72/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, with praise centered on power, smooth ride quality, and comfort over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes a durable-feeling cabin and a lineup built around real work capability, which supports the idea that this is a truck you can count on for regular use. Ford also includes standard pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, which adds some peace of mind in daily driving.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that lower-trim trucks may feel less refined inside, so condition and maintenance history matter.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford F-150?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, brakes, suspension, and interior wear, especially if the truck was used for towing or job-site duty. Focus on how the truck was equipped and maintained, because condition can vary a lot across this model’s wide trim and engine range.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The XL is the work-focused starting point with steel wheels, air conditioning, manual locks, a basic driver display, and standard forward automatic emergency braking. The XLT adds SYNC 3, a WiFi hotspot, cruise control, chrome exterior touches, and more everyday convenience, while the Lariat brings leather-trimmed seats, heated and cooled front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a larger driver display. If you want the best value, the Lariat is the trim CarGurus recommends because it adds a lot of comfort without jumping all the way to luxury pricing.
- Powertrain: You get a 3.3-liter V6, a 2.7-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V6, a 5.0-liter V8, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. The base V6 is fine for daily driving, but the turbocharged engines, V8, and turbodiesel are better suited to towing and hauling, and the 3.5-liter EcoBoost is the most powerful option.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 can include automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Some of these features are standard or available only on higher trims, so check carefully before you buy.
- Infotainment: The XL starts with a basic AM/FM setup, while the XLT’s SYNC 3 system uses an 8-inch touchscreen and adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, enhanced voice recognition, pinch-to-zoom map controls, and smart-charging USB ports. FordPass with a 4G WiFi modem is also available on XLT and higher trims.
- Fuel efficiency: The turbodiesel with rear-wheel drive returns 21 mpg city, 29 highway, and 24 combined. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with rear-wheel drive returns 20 mpg city, 26 highway, and 22 combined, while the V8 returns 17 mpg city, 23 highway, and 19 combined. The least efficient version is the Raptor at 15 mpg city, 18 highway, and 16 combined.
Which 2020 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?
The 2020 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- XL: This is the no-frills work truck, and it makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and can live with a basic cabin. It includes standard forward automatic emergency braking, but it leaves out many of the comfort and tech upgrades found higher up the range.
- XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, cruise control, and more exterior polish. If you want a truck that feels modern without moving into luxury pricing, this is the trim to target.
- Lariat: This is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale daily driver. It adds leather-trimmed seats, heated and cooled front seats, dual-zone climate control, push-button start, and a larger driver display, making it the most balanced choice for comfort and value.
- King Ranch: This trim leans into Western-themed luxury with saddle-leather upholstery, special stitching, a premium sound system, heated rear seats, and a remote release tailgate. It suits you if you want a distinctive, upscale truck with a more expressive personality.
- Platinum: This trim adds more luxury touches, including chrome badging, body-color bumpers, LED bed lighting and fog lamps, power outlets, ambient lighting, and massaging front seats. It is a strong pick if comfort and premium features matter more than price.
- Raptor: This is the off-road-focused model, with a wider body, lifted suspension, Fox Racing Shox, skid plates, and specialized drive modes. Buy it if you want the most rugged and specialized version of the lineup.
- Limited: This is the top luxury trim, with 22-inch wheels, premium leather upholstery, a dual-panel moonroof, and upscale exterior detailing. Choose it if you want the most comfort and the most premium presentation.
Standard forward automatic emergency braking is included on the XL, and Ford Co-Pilot360 features become more available as you move up the range.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford F-150?

- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.10% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 78.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $28,512.25, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford F-150's resale value?
The current average of $28,889 sits slightly below last year's $30,766.
That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays loose. For a seller, the current trend suggests you should expect value to depend heavily on trim, condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market appreciation. Well-kept trucks with desirable powertrains and strong feature content should still draw interest, especially because this model has broad appeal.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.72/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford F-150 safe?
The 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCrew received five-star ratings from NHTSA, while the SuperCab and regular cab earned four-star ratings overall. The SuperCrew also received top marks from IIHS.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford makes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking standard, including on the XL. Ford Co-Pilot360 can add automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. The truck is also available with Pro Trailer Backup Assist, which can make trailer maneuvering much easier.
The main safety caveat is that advanced driver-assistance features are not standard across the lineup, so you should confirm exactly which systems are included on the truck you’re considering.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.10% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.72/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It balances comfort, capability, and a broad engine lineup without the redesign changes that arrived for 2021.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $26,519, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $28,889 average.
- It offers a proven formula with modest updates rather than a full redesign.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $33,148, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $28,889 average.
- It adds more technology, a revamped interior, and an available hybrid powertrain.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, capability, and everyday usability, the 2020 is the smart middle ground. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the value play; if you want newer tech and are willing to pay more, the 2021 is the upgrade path.
