Used 2020 Dodge Durango for Sale nearBirmingham, AL

How much does the 2020 Dodge Durango cost?

Prices have softened 10.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,279 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Dodge Durango a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Dodge Durango earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10. Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, comfort, smooth driving experience, towing capacity, and performance, while the expert review highlights its easy-to-use technology and roomy cabin. The trade-offs are that it feels a bit dated, gives up some usability to rivals, and its styling is described as uninspired. For you, that means the Durango makes the most sense if you want a three-row SUV with personality, space, and muscle-car attitude rather than the most modern family hauler. Good and great deals account for 33.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Dodge Durango reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback points to a dependable-feeling SUV that many owners enjoy for its comfort, spaciousness, and smooth driving character, with several noting that it works well as a family vehicle. The expert review also emphasizes its solid, easy-to-live-with technology and strong powertrain lineup, which supports the sense that it can be a trustworthy daily driver when maintained properly. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that condition and maintenance history matter more than mileage alone, especially on higher-output versions.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Dodge Durango?

At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim or higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin, and whether the equipment on the listing matches the trim level you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SXT comes with 18-inch wheels, three-zone climate control, manually adjustable front seats, a 7-inch digital instrument panel screen, dual USB ports, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a six-speaker stereo. The GT adds 20-inch wheels, a sport-inspired grille, remote start, LED fog lights, dual exhaust, a power rear liftgate, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and satellite radio. The R/T adds rain-sensing wipers, a four-way power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, memory settings, leather-and-suede upholstery, heated front seats, heated rear seats, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen. The Citadel adds chrome exterior touches, 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, a power moonroof, second-row captain’s chairs with a center console, and premium leather upholstery. The SRT adds a more aggressive front fascia, auto-leveling headlights, 20-inch black wheels, ventilated front seats, and unique leather-and-suede seats with an embossed SRT logo.
• Powertrain: The SXT, GT, and Citadel use a 3.6-liter V6 with 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The R/T uses a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with 360 hp and 390 lb-ft, and that engine is also available on the Citadel. The SRT uses a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. All engines pair with an 8-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive depending on trim.
• Safety package: The Durango includes front- and side-impact airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and trailer sway control. Rear parking sensors are available on the SXT and standard on all other trims, while the R/T, Citadel, and SRT add front- and rear parking sensors. The Technology Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision avoidance, and lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring plus rear cross-path detection are also available.
• Infotainment: The SXT and GT use a 7-inch touchscreen, while an 8.4-inch touchscreen is optional on the GT and standard on all other trims. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. R/T, Citadel, and SRT trims add navigation and SiriusXM Travel Link, plus an Alpine premium audio system with nine speakers and a subwoofer; a 19-speaker Harman Kardon system is also available on those trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The base V6 with rear-wheel drive returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, and 21 combined. AWD lowers that to 18/25/21. The 5.7-liter V8 returns 14/22/17, and the SRT returns 13/19/15.

Which 2020 Dodge Durango trim should I buy?

The 2020 Dodge Durango is offered in 5 trim levels: SXT, GT, Citadel, R/T, and SRT.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Durango experience with the V6, a 7-inch touchscreen, and the basic comfort and utility features. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup, but it is also the trim where you feel the most feature gaps.
• GT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished look, remote start, LED fog lights, a power liftgate, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat without jumping into V8 pricing. If you want a balanced mix of equipment and price, this is the one to focus on.
• Citadel: This is the comfort-leaning choice, with chrome accents, a moonroof, captain’s chairs, and premium leather. It suits you if you want a more upscale family SUV and are willing to pay more for the nicer cabin.
• R/T: This is the step for buyers who want stronger performance and more luxury features together. The V8, heated seats, memory settings, and larger touchscreen make it a compelling middle ground if you want more muscle without going all the way to the top.
• SRT: This is the performance flagship, with the most powerful engine, performance-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes, and the most aggressive styling. It fits you best if driving excitement matters more than efficiency or everyday value.

The Technology Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision avoidance, and lane-departure warning, but those features are not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Dodge Durango?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,279 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.51% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,602, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Dodge Durango's resale value?

The current average of $20,602 sits slightly below last year's $23,021.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price now, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. The Durango’s broad appeal, especially among shoppers who want space and power, should help support demand, but condition and trim choice will matter a lot when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Dodge Durango safe?

The Durango earns a four-star rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side crash testing and four-star ratings in all other phases. It also earns a Good result in most IIHS crash tests, though the driver’s-side small-front overlap test is rated Moderate.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The Durango includes front- and side-impact airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and trailer sway control. A key caveat is that advanced driver-assistance features are not standard, so you need to check carefully for the right package on any used example.

Should I buy a 2020 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines three-row practicality with muscle-car styling and multiple powertrain options.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $26,119, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $20,602 average.
• It adds a new infotainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because prices are lower and the market still offers plenty of inventory. If you care more about newer tech and are willing to pay more, the 2021 is the better path.
