Used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD for Sale nearAustin, TX

How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 9.45% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,418 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Form and function.

The Silverado 2500HD is built for buyers who want serious capability without giving up modern convenience. Its multiple powertrain options and easy-to-use technology make it appealing if you want a heavy-duty truck that can still serve as a daily driver.

The trade-offs are clear: its design may not appeal to everyone, and its value proposition is weak because pricing can climb quickly. Even so, if you prioritize maximum utility and a broad range of uses, it delivers a lot of truck.

32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Silverado 2500HD is presented as a modern heavy-duty truck that combines work-ready capability with a more usable cabin and contemporary tech. Its straightforward infotainment layout and broad feature set support the idea that it is designed to be practical over the long haul.

Its performance hardware is also built around proven truck fundamentals, with powerful V8 options and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The diesel setup is described as especially punchy once it builds power, which reinforces the sense that the truck is engineered for sustained hard use.

The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a truck this capable may have been worked hard, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

At 74.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on signs of heavy use, especially if the truck was used for towing, hauling, or jobsite duty. Condition matters more than mileage alone on a heavy-duty pickup like this.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Work Truck comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, a V8 engine, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 3.5-inch digital instrument display, while the LT adds a chrome grille, upgraded cloth seating, a larger infotainment screen, and a power lift-and-lower tailgate. The LT is the best-value choice because it adds more comfort without a huge price jump.
• Powertrain: You get a standard gas V8 with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, or an optional Duramax turbodiesel V8 with 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. Both pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission and available 4WD with low-range gearing.
• Safety package: Safety Package II adds forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and the Safety Alert Seat. Safety Package I adds front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: The base system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while LT, LTZ, and High Country trims get an 8-inch touchscreen. Wireless charging is standard on High Country and available on LTZ, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot is standard on LT, LTZ, and High Country.
• Fuel efficiency: In testing, the truck returned about 17 mpg.

Which 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD trim should I buy?

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is offered in 5 trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• Work Truck: This is the most basic version, but it still gives you a V8, Bluetooth, and a 7-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and care more about capability than comfort.
• Custom: This trim adds 20-inch aluminum wheels, LED taillights, a body-color split grille bar, and side-mirror cornering lights. It is a step up in appearance and convenience, but it is not the strongest value pick.
• LT: This is the trim CarGurus recommends because it adds a chrome grille, upgraded cloth seating, a larger infotainment screen, and a power lift-and-lower tailgate. It is the best-value trim for most shoppers.
• LTZ: This trim brings leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and remote start. It suits you if you want a more upscale truck and are willing to pay for it.
• High Country: This is the most luxurious version, with features such as a spray-on bed liner, front and rear park assist, and a power up-and-down tailgate. It is the right choice if you want the most equipment and do not mind the price.

Safety Package I adds front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring, while Safety Package II adds forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and the Safety Alert Seat.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,418 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.45% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,088, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $38,088 sits slightly below last year's $42,064.

That price decline suggests the truck has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer market than they would have a year ago. If you buy well and keep the truck in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it is time to resell.

Heavy-duty trucks can hold demand when they offer strong capability and broad usefulness, and this Silverado still checks those boxes. The challenge is that its high new-truck pricing can limit how much room there is for appreciation later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD safe?

The Silverado HD comes with a reversing camera, traction control, and a full array of airbags.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The available Safety Package II adds forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and the Safety Alert Seat. Safety Package I adds front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring, and the LTZ improves on the reversing camera with a surround-view camera with trailer views.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines multiple powertrain options with easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $39,859, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $38,088 average.
• It adds more options, comfortable accommodations, and innovative camera technology.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the stronger buy because prices have eased and the truck still delivers the capability and tech that matter most. If you are willing to spend more for added flexibility and camera tech, the 2021 is the better secondary path.
