Used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 8.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,720 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the excellent fuel economy, smooth performance, and spacious interior. The truck is also framed as a strong fit if you want a full-size pickup that can handle work, daily driving, and a wide range of equipment choices.

The trade-offs are clear: advanced safety features are not standard, and value for money is a weak point. The Silverado’s broad appeal is strongest if you want capability and comfort first, then can live with some feature gaps.

With 33.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling truck with strong fuel economy, smooth performance, and a spacious cabin. That combination suggests you can count on it for everyday use and longer ownership, especially if you value a truck that feels settled and easy to live with.

The expert review also emphasizes the Silverado’s strong performance and broad powertrain availability, which supports its reputation as a truck built to handle varied demands. Chevrolet also includes the first scheduled service free of charge.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may have been worked hard, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

At 72.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has towing, off-road, or heavy-use mileage. Focus on body condition, cabin wear, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the trim level you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Silverado’s trim range includes WT (Work Truck), Custom, LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country, with distinct styling details across versions. Base-trim trucks can miss some of the more desirable equipment, and the safety content shows that advanced driver-assistance features are concentrated in higher trims.
• Powertrain: Chevrolet offers a choice between five different engines and three different transmissions, including a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel 6-cylinder for 2020. The diesel can return up to 27 mpg on the highway, and the 6.2-liter V8 is described as the engine to recommend.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and camera-based adaptive cruise control are limited to LTZ and High Country. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning can be added to LT and RST.
• Infotainment: You get a 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Chevrolet Connected Access services, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. Available upgrades include navigation, wireless device charging, and a 7-speaker Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel engine returns up to 27 mpg on the highway, and the test truck averaged 16.8 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in 6 trim levels: WT (Work Truck), Custom, LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• WT (Work Truck): This is the most basic path into the Silverado lineup, so it makes sense if you want the truck’s core capability and plan to keep costs down. It is the trim most likely to leave you wanting more standard equipment.
• Custom: This trim adds a bit more personality and is also one of the trims that can be paired with the Trail Boss treatment, which gives you a more rugged look and off-road-oriented hardware. It suits you if you want a more distinctive truck without jumping to the top of the range.
• LT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and can be equipped with useful extras like blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning. It gives you a better balance of equipment and price than the lower trims.
• RST: Choose this if you want a more style-focused Silverado and want access to the same added safety content available on LT. It works well if appearance matters, but you still want a mainstream trim.
• LTZ: This is where the Silverado’s advanced safety features become available, including forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and camera-based adaptive cruise control. It is the right pick if safety tech matters most.
• High Country: This is the most upscale choice and also gets the advanced safety suite. It makes sense if you want the most premium Silverado experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety-package gap is important: the most advanced driver-assistance features are not standard across the lineup and are concentrated in LTZ and High Country.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,720 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,034, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $28,034 sits slightly below last year's $30,584.

That decline suggests the truck has become more affordable for buyers, which can make it a tougher environment for future sellers trying to maximize return. If you own one now, pricing pressure may continue to favor shoppers unless your truck has especially desirable equipment, strong condition, or a clean history.

The Silverado’s broad popularity helps support demand, but resale value will still depend heavily on trim, mileage, and condition. Trucks with the right mix of equipment and a clean record should hold up better than average.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 safe?

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings for driver and front passenger protection in a head-on collision. In IIHS testing, it earned a Marginal rating for front passenger protection in a small overlap frontal-impact collision on the right side, a Good rating for the driver on the left side, and Poor headlights.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

The Silverado includes a rear-seat reminder system and Teen Driver driving report card technologies as standard. Chevrolet’s more advanced driver-assistance systems are limited to higher trims, though, so you need LTZ or High Country for forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and camera-based adaptive cruise control.

That trim-level gap matters if safety tech is a priority, and the weaker IIHS results are worth keeping in mind when you shop used examples.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 adds a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine, broader powertrain availability, a bed-view camera, and camera-based adaptive cruise control.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $25,948, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $28,034 average.
• The redesigned 2019 appeals to Chevy loyalists with a comfortable ride and spacious interior.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,494, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $28,034 average.
• The 2021 broadens powertrain choices and adds easy-to-use technology.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the right middle ground if you want the updated truck with strong owner satisfaction and a softer price than the 2021. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2019 can save you money, while the 2021 makes sense if you want the next step up in refinement and configuration flexibility.
