By this point in the second generation, Chevrolet had made the Colorado a solid companion with good value for the money, and its strength was in the mid-range and high trims, which offered a good balance of performance and brawn. It also remained more spacious than many rivals, and the truck’s utility was a major part of its appeal.
For 2020, the Colorado’s entry-level W.T. trim came with a four-way power-adjustable driver seat, a 7-inch color touchscreen, front, side, and side curtain airbags, electronic stability control and traction control, manual folding mirrors, a locking tailgate, the CornerStep rear bumper, black moldings, and carpet. The L.T. added a body-color rear bumper, mirror caps and door handles, 17-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen, remote keyless entry, and the E.Z. Lift & Lower tailgate. Higher up, the Z71 added an off-road suspension package, automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, unique wheels with all-terrain tires, automatic climate control, driver power lumbar control, and wireless charging, while the ZR2 brought a more serious off-road setup with Multimatic DSSV Damping System, increased ground clearance and track width, and other specialized hardware.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Colorado’s reliability record was hurt by early transmission woes, and models built from 2014 to 2019, along with even a few later ones, were affected by recurring issues with the eight-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet also did not give this Colorado the breadth and quality of active safety systems that Toyota offered standard in this era. Even so, for buyers who want a truck with strong towing and payload credentials, useful trim-level variety, and a capable feel without moving up to a full-size pickup, the 2020 Colorado remains an appealing choice.

This truck has more bells and whistles than the one I traded. Gotta get used to those. Not fond of the mirrors not being electric, but I can get past that. It has a couple of deep scratches in the paint that can be fixed. Based on the overall price I’m paying, I’m satisfied.

I got a great value on this vehicle from an individual. That is the main reason for buying it, although I had seen the reviews about it being a great vehicle. It is not a smooth ride - I call it rough and ready. But it gets around 23 mpg on average. It has a V6 and an automatic transmission. I wish it came with Sirius XM radio, but I can use Android Auto and the app on my phone to listen to my favorite XM stations.
