Aside from the aftermarket spoiler that was put on this car (just not my taste), the M2 was made for people who love to drive. Even without the manual gearbox, it checks almost every other box youd want in a great driving experience. Steering lacks a little bit of feel, but other than that its hard to beat the throttle response and sonorous music coming from under the hood.

2020 BMW M2 Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2020 BMW M2 prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2020 BMW M2 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $63,228 |
| Year-Round Low | $55,075.57 |
| Year-Round High | $68,829.15 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $67,372 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.15% |
Prices have softened 6.15% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 93 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $55,075.57, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2020 BMW M2 a good car?
Yes — the 2020 BMW M2 earns a user rating of 5/5, which points to strong owner satisfaction. The overview describes it as a compelling choice if you want a performance-focused coupe that still works for everyday use, with a turbocharged inline-six, rear-wheel drive, and a driver-focused cabin. It also notes that the car's stiff ride may not suit everyone, so you should expect a more committed sports-car feel than a comfort-first setup. With 38.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 BMW M2 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview suggests the M2 is built around a focused performance formula, with a driver-oriented interior and a powertrain aimed at engagement rather than compromise. That kind of setup can be rewarding if you want a sports coupe that feels special every time you drive it. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a performance car with a stiff ride and hard-driven history can be more sensitive to wear, so condition matters a lot.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 BMW M2?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should prioritize a clean history report and confirm that the car's accident record matches the listing. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a performance coupe like this, since you want to check for signs of hard use, uneven wear, and any deferred maintenance. Focus on overall condition first, then make sure the car still feels tight, responsive, and consistent on a test drive.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 BMW M2?
This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 93 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.15% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 81.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $55,075.57, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 BMW M2's resale value?
The current average of $63,228 sits slightly below last year's $67,372.
That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also mean future resale gains are limited if prices stay soft. If you plan to sell later, buying well matters because your exit price will depend heavily on how clean, desirable, and well-kept your car remains. A strong condition history should help you preserve more value than a rough example.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 BMW M2 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.15% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2021 if:
- It adds a sharper, more track-focused performance setup.
The bottom line: You should start with the 2020 if you want a strong mix of enthusiast appeal, usable daily driving, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you're especially price-sensitive, the 2020 is the better hunting ground because you can compare more listings and look for one near the lower end of the range. If you want the newer-year upgrade and are willing to pay more, the 2021 is the alternative to keep on your shortlist.
