How much does the 2020 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 8.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,051 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Acura MDX earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, safety features, and comfort, and many also like the power it provides for family use. The overview points to a three-row luxury crossover that emphasizes comfort, convenience, and technology, which fits shoppers who want a premium family SUV with broad everyday usefulness. The main trade-offs are uninspired styling and outdated technology, so you may want to weigh those against the MDX’s practical strengths. With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for the MDX’s spaciousness, safety, and comfort. The expert review also describes it as a proven model with a loyal repeat audience, which reinforces the sense that it’s a vehicle you can count on over time. Its solid build quality and well-rounded character support that impression. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear may show up in the technology and interior details before the core vehicle does.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Acura MDX?

At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with prior bodywork. Focus on overall condition, signs of repair quality, and whether the cabin and technology still feel consistent with the price. Because this model is often bought as a family vehicle, it’s worth checking that the interior, safety equipment, and convenience features all work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX is nicely equipped, but it lacks the special tech extras that define the higher packages. The Technology Package adds more convenience and driver-assistance content, while the Advance Package layers in additional comfort and camera features.
• Powertrain: The MDX comes with a 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and a nine-speed automatic, with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available. A hybrid version is also mentioned, but the gasoline model is the standard setup here.
• Safety package: Standard AcuraWatch includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and the Advance Package adds Head-Up Warning.
• Infotainment: The base model includes an 8.0-inch upper display and an ODMD touchscreen, plus Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and multiple USB ports. Higher packages add navigation, premium audio, and a larger 16.2-inch screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model is rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, while SH-AWD returns 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

Which 2020 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Acura MDX is offered in 3 trim levels: base MDX, Technology Package, Advance Package.

Here's the short version:

• base MDX: This is the best-value starting point if you want the MDX’s core strengths without paying for extra luxury features. It already gives you standard safety tech, a spacious cabin, and a solid list of infotainment features.
• Technology Package: This is the trim to target if you want the most balanced upgrade. It adds navigation, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, and upgraded audio, making it the smartest choice for many shoppers.
• Advance Package: Choose this if you want the most comfort and convenience content, including heated and ventilated front seats, a surround-view camera system, and additional luxury touches.

The Technology Package is the best-value trim for most buyers, and the Advance Package is the one to choose if you want the fullest feature set. Safety-wise, the Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, while the Advance Package adds Head-Up Warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,051 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,732, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $23,732 sits slightly below last year's $25,992.

That decline suggests the MDX has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who purchased when prices were higher. The model’s broad appeal and family-friendly reputation should still help support demand. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX safe?

The 2020 Acura MDX earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Good rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard AcuraWatch suite includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and the Advance Package adds Head-Up Warning. The MDX also includes a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, multiple airbags, stability control, traction control, and other structural and child-seat safety hardware. One caveat is that the Technology Package is needed for blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Should I buy a 2020 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for standard advanced safety features and a spacious cabin.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $21,200, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $23,732 average.
• It offers a proven, long-running three-row luxury crossover with a familiar, refined character.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market mix of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2020 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2019 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the MDX’s core strengths.

How does the 2020 Acura MDX compare to the 2020 Honda Pilot?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2020 Acura MDX:

• Pros: Standard advanced safety features, Spacious.
• Cons: Uninspired styling, Outdated technology.

2020 Honda Pilot:

• Pros: Powerful engine, Standard advanced safety features.
• Cons: Unintuitive technology, Interior materials feel cheap.

Our experts score the 2020 Acura MDX 7.2/10 and the 2020 Honda Pilot 8/10. The MDX leans more toward luxury comfort and a spacious cabin, while the Pilot emphasizes a stronger value proposition and a more powerful engine. Both offer standard advanced safety features, but the MDX’s outdated technology is a drawback if you want a more modern-feeling cabin. The Pilot scores higher overall, though the MDX may still appeal if you want the more premium badge and a more upscale family-SUV experience.
