How much does the 2019 Toyota Tacoma cost?

There are 3,391 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.22/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Drivers commonly praise its reliability, solid performance, and features, and many also value its longevity and resale value. The overview points to a truck that feels honest and purpose-built, with a loyal following built around its distinctive personality and daily-use dependability. The main trade-offs are outdated technology and poor ride quality, so it suits you best if you want a rugged midsize pickup rather than a polished daily driver.

Good and great deals account for 33.7% of listings, so there’s still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.22/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly highlights reliability, longevity, and a truck that many owners feel they can count on over time. The expert notes also frame it as a durable, cost-effective pickup with free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership burden. Even so, used buyers should still watch for signs of hard use, because truck life can vary a lot depending on how the previous owner treated it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Tacoma?

At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, suspension, brakes, and interior wear. Because this truck is often bought for work, towing, and off-road use, condition matters as much as mileage. If a listing looks unusually clean or unusually cheap, make sure the equipment and accident history line up with the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The trims are SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro. The base setup is stripped down compared with higher trims, while the Limited adds a more upscale feel and the TRD models bring more specialized hardware and character.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 3.5-liter V6 with 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. V6 models include towing hardware, and the TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro add Multi-terrain Select and Crawl Control for tougher terrain.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, sway warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available for most versions.
• Infotainment: The truck uses a 7-inch display, and the system lacks Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for this model year. The available JBL audio system is a plus, but the interface itself is dated.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test loop returned 18.9 mpg, and the weeklong average was 20.1 mpg. The EPA figure cited for the test truck was 20 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2019 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point if you want the Tacoma experience at the lowest price, but it’s the most basic version and leaves you with the fewest comfort and convenience extras.
• SR5: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it gives you a more rounded everyday truck without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• TRD Sport: Choose this if you want a more style-forward Tacoma with a sportier personality and more visual distinction.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the one to get if you plan to spend real time off pavement, since it adds the off-road-focused hardware and traction tools.
• Limited: This is the trim for you if you want the most upscale feel in the lineup; it’s the most refined choice and the test truck’s configuration showed it can still be very capable.
• TRD Pro: Pick this if you want the most specialized and most expensive Tacoma, with the strongest off-road emphasis in the range.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available for most versions.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests the truck is holding a fairly stable market position rather than dropping sharply. Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.22/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It’s unapologetically a truck, with strong value and a loyal following.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $30,735, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $29,097 average.
• It adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and an 8-inch screen.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter buy because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a modest tech upgrade, the 2020 is the cleaner choice for modern infotainment. For most price-sensitive shoppers, the 2019 remains the more compelling path.
