Is the 2019 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year. The 2019 Sequoia is a large, truck-based three-row SUV built on the Tundra platform, so you get room for up to eight passengers depending on the second-row layout, plus the kind of rugged construction that suits daily family use and heavier-duty tasks. It also brings the practical benefits of the 2018 refresh, including updated front-end styling and Toyota’s SafetySense driver-assistance features. 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 Sequoia’s appeal is tied to its proven mechanical setup, including the 5.7-liter V8 and body-on-frame construction. It was designed around durability and strong towing ability, and that old-school approach is part of why many used buyers still value it. For long-term ownership, the main risk is that its age and truck-based design can mean you should pay close attention to wear, maintenance history, and overall condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Sequoia?

At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history before you commit. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and any evidence that the SUV has been used hard, since this model’s rugged nature can hide wear. Because the Sequoia is a large, truck-based SUV, you should also pay close attention to how well the cabin, suspension, and exterior have held up over time.

That year-over-year increase suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year. The Sequoia’s durable, truck-based identity also helps it stay relevant with buyers who want a full-size SUV with proven hardware.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.26% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a full-size, truck-based SUV with proven durability, strong towing ability, and a roomy three-row layout, the 2019 is the primary path to consider. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge.
