How much does the 2019 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices have softened 1.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,730 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2019 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Toyota RAV4 earns a 4.5/5 user rating, and our experts give it an 8/10 overall score. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its great value, smooth ride, and spacious interior, along with its modern features and safety equipment. The expert review also points to its bold styling and standard advanced safety tech as major strengths.

The trade-offs are clear: the engine is described as fairly pedestrian, and handling is a weak point. That makes it a better fit if you want a practical compact SUV for commuting, family duty, and road trips than if you want something especially engaging to drive.

The RAV4’s broad appeal comes from being a do-it-all small SUV that stays affordable, efficient, and reliable. With 32.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Review feedback also points to the RAV4 as reliable, dependable, and a vehicle people feel they can count on over time.

The expert review reinforces that reputation by emphasizing the RAV4’s role as an affordable, efficient, and reliable small SUV. It also notes that Toyota has built the model around practical ownership, with strong value and standard safety features supporting everyday confidence.

Toyota’s standard maintenance and ownership approach is part of the appeal, especially for shoppers who want a straightforward used SUV. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about how well a specific example has been maintained and driven.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota RAV4?

At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the equipment and trim level match the seller’s description.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE starts with steel 17-inch wheels with plastic covers, LED headlights, daytime running lights and taillights, power side mirrors, low-profile black roof rails, and privacy-tinted side and rear windows. The XLE adds alloy wheels, automatic high beams, integrated fog lights, color-keyed mirrors with turn-signal indicators, a power moonroof, push-button start, sport bucket seats, and dual-zone climate control. The XLE Premium adds 19-inch alloy wheels, a power rear liftgate, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift lever, soft-touch dash materials, and SofTex upholstery. The Adventure adds rugged styling touches and all-wheel drive, while the Limited adds upscale exterior and interior features plus navigation.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with available all-wheel drive, including a more advanced torque-vectoring setup on the Adventure and Limited.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, dynamic radar cruise control, traffic-sign detection, and Lane-Tracing Assist.
• Infotainment: The LE has a 7-inch touchscreen with Entune 3, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a WiFi hotspot. The XLE adds five USB ports. The Adventure gets an upgraded panoramic reversing camera and an 8-inch infotainment screen, while the Limited offers an optional JBL premium stereo.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model returns 26 mpg city and 35 highway, while the all-wheel-drive test car earned 27 mpg city and 34 highway. The torque-vectoring AWD version returns 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway.

Which 2019 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and still want standard safety tech, Apple CarPlay, and the core RAV4 experience. It gives you the essentials without much extra cost.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the most useful everyday upgrades, including alloy wheels, fog lights, push-button start, a moonroof, dual-zone climate control, and more USB ports.
• XLE Premium: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and convenience upgrades, including the power liftgate, power driver’s seat, and SofTex upholstery.
• Adventure: This is the pick if you want the more rugged look and the more capable all-wheel-drive setup, along with the unique exterior and interior touches that set it apart.
• Limited: This is the top choice if you want the most upscale RAV4, with chrome-finished wheels, heated front seats, navigation, ambient lighting, and available comfort upgrades.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up for the core driver-assistance package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota RAV4?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,730 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.79% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,417, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $22,288 sits slightly below last year's $22,694.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future sellers may face a market that is still adjusting. If you own one for a few years, resale will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

The RAV4’s broad appeal should help support demand over time, especially because shoppers continue to value its safety, practicality, and reputation. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2019 Toyota RAV4 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, dynamic radar cruise control, traffic-sign detection, and Lane-Tracing Assist. Standard equipment also includes a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, traction control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.

That standard safety package is a major strength, especially because Toyota makes it standard rather than reserving it for higher trims. The main caveat is that the RAV4’s safety advantage is strongest when you shop a trim that includes the full standard equipment list and verify that the vehicle has been properly maintained.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 brings bold new styling, new tech, and a bit of off-road cred.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $23,306, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $22,288 average.
• It broadens the lineup with gas and hybrid powertrains and more configuration choices.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter starting point because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year with a wider range of configurations, the 2020 is worth a look.

How does the 2019 Toyota RAV4 compare to the 2019 Honda CR-V?

Our experts score the 2019 Toyota RAV4 8/10 and the 2019 Honda CR-V 8/10. The RAV4 brings stronger horsepower, a more rugged personality, and standard advanced safety features, while the CR-V leans more toward refinement and everyday polish. If you want a more distinctive small SUV with a bit of off-road flavor, the RAV4 has the edge; if you want a smoother, more traditional commuter, the CR-V is the safer bet.
