Is the 2019 Toyota Camry a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Toyota Camry earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, comfortable ride, and fuel efficiency, and they also like the smooth handling and stylish design. The overview points to a practical family-car role with strong safety credentials and a free scheduled maintenance plan, while the expert notes highlight its athletic feel and available 6-cylinder engine.

The trade-offs are that it can feel smaller than some rivals, with fewer features than many shoppers expect and interior materials that can seem cheap. Even so, the listing mix shows 30.5% good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Toyota Camry reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback emphasizes reliability, and the expert notes reinforce that with language about trouble-free ownership and a reputation for dependable everyday transportation. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a free maintenance plan for two years or 25,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership hassle.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical reputation and more about finding a well-kept example that has been maintained consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Camry?

At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a prior collision. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, and signs of rushed repairs, since those details can reveal how well the car was restored. It also makes sense to compare trim equipment carefully, because feature content varies meaningfully across the lineup.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes L, LE, XLE, SE, and XSE. The review points out that the standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with LE trim is the best bang for your buck, while the upscale XLE is the favorite among the trims discussed. Lower trims can miss some of the features shoppers now expect.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 203-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and an available 301-horsepower 3.5-liter V6. The V6 adds a lot of torque and makes the car feel much quicker, while the 4-cylinder is the sensible daily-driving choice.
• Safety package: Every 2019 Camry has Toyota Safety Sense with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. The suite is standard, but it is not the latest version, and lower trims use standard headlights that are rated Acceptable instead of Good.
• Infotainment: The Camry uses Entune 3.0 with Apple CarPlay, but it does not include Android Auto. The system also offers a 6-month/2GB WiFi Connect subscription, and the test car had a Qi-compatible wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert notes mention 26 mpg in combined driving for the V6 test car, while the review also says the hybrid can add up to 20 miles per gallon to the car’s fuel economy.

Which 2019 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota Camry is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE, and XSE.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but the review makes clear that lower trims can leave you wanting more. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting point and are willing to give up equipment.
• LE: This is the best-value choice. The review specifically recommends the standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with LE trim at a minimum, making it the smart pick for most shoppers.
• XLE: This is the upscale choice if you want a more premium feel. The expert calls it the favorite among the trims discussed, so it suits you if comfort and a richer cabin matter more than price.
• SE: This is the sportier mainstream trim for shoppers who want a more expressive look without jumping all the way to the top end.
• XSE: This is the most style-forward version discussed, and the review’s test car was an XSE V6. It suits you if you want the strongest performance and the most dramatic presentation.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but lower trims use headlights that are rated Acceptable rather than Good.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Camry?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,107 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.19% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,992, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota Camry's resale value?

The current average of $18,922 sits slightly below last year's $19,345.

That softer pricing suggests the Camry is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago, which can help you enter ownership at a lower cost basis. For a future seller, that matters because buying below the recent average can reduce the amount of value you need to recover later.

The year-round range also shows that prices have room to move depending on condition, mileage, and trim. If you buy a well-kept example with desirable equipment, you should be in a better position when it comes time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Toyota Camry safe?

The 2019 Toyota Camry earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment, including rollover resistance, and it earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Toyota also includes Safety Connect for the first three years of ownership, adding automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, and roadside-assistance access.

One caveat is that lower trims use standard headlights that are rated Acceptable instead of Good, so trim choice can affect the safety package you get.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong safety ratings with a free scheduled maintenance plan and an available 6-cylinder engine.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $17,825, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $18,922 average.
• It emphasizes dependable daily transportation with bold styling and a practical, sensible mission.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,173, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $18,922 average.
• It adds all-wheel drive and the TRD sportier V6 version.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, safety, and available performance, the 2019 is the sweet spot. If your budget is tighter, the 2018 can save you money while keeping the Camry’s core strengths. If you want newer features and are willing to pay more, the 2020 is the better upgrade path.
