Used 2019 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearMinneapolis, MN

How much does the 2019 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 1.78% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,014 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Toyota 4Runner earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, smooth ride, and spacious interior, and many also highlight its off-road capability and comfort. The trade-offs are clear: the technology feels dated, advanced safety features are not standard, and fuel economy is poor. That makes it a strong fit if you want a rugged SUV with proven capability and everyday usability, especially if you value durability and cargo space over modern tech. Good and great deals account for 33.9% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Reviewers repeatedly describe it as reliable and dependable, with many noting that it feels like a vehicle you can count on over the long haul. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that its proven components work together well, which reinforces its reputation for durability. If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that age-related wear and higher running costs can add up over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota 4Runner?

At 62.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, signs of off-road use, and whether the truck has been maintained consistently. Because this model is built around capability rather than modern convenience, you should also make sure the equipment level matches what you want to live with every day.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR5 is the most basic version, with 17-inch alloy wheels, skid plates, tinted rear and side windows, and a power up/down rear window. The SR5 Premium adds heated side mirrors, heated front seats, SofTex upholstery, a power front passenger seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The TRD Off-Road adds off-road-focused hardware and controls, while the TRD Off-Road Premium brings back more comfort features plus a power moonroof. The Limited shifts toward curb appeal with chrome accents, 20-inch wheels, leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The TRD Pro adds the most trail-focused hardware and unique exterior touches.
• Powertrain: You get one engine: a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is available, and 4WD with low-range is available as well. The setup is proven and capable, but it is also old-school and not especially efficient.
• Safety package: The 4Runner comes with a full array of airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera, but advanced driver-assistance features are not standard. The safety content does not describe a named driver-assistance suite.
• Infotainment: The 4Runner does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The upgraded system includes navigation and Siri Eyes Free, but the overall setup is basic and can feel dated.
• Fuel efficiency: 4WD versions return 17 mpg city, 20 highway, and 18 combined. RWD versions do 17/21/18.

Which 2019 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core 4Runner formula with the basic equipment you need. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting point and plan to keep things simple.
• SR5 Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds heated side mirrors, heated front seats, SofTex upholstery, a power front passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and upgraded navigation. It is the trim to target if you want a more livable daily driver without jumping into the off-road-focused models.
• TRD Off-Road: Choose this if you want the off-road hardware and controls, including the locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, and crawl control. It gives you the capability focus the 4Runner is known for, but it gives up some comfort content.
• TRD Off-Road Premium: This is the better choice if you want the off-road gear and also want more comfort, since it brings back premium features and adds a power moonroof. It is the right pick if you want trail capability without giving up too much everyday comfort.
• Limited: This trim is aimed more at curb appeal and comfort, with leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, dual-zone climate control, and more chrome. It suits you if you care more about a dressed-up look and a nicer cabin than trail hardware.
• TRD Pro: This is the most specialized choice, with upgraded suspension, skid plates, all-terrain tires, and unique TRD styling. It is the one to buy if you want the most trail-ready version and are willing to pay for it.

The safety content notes that advanced driver-assistance features are not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota 4Runner?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,014 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.78% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,371, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $31,485 sits slightly below last year's $32,057.

That modest decline suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you are thinking about short-term resale. Even so, the 4Runner's reputation for durability and strong owner satisfaction should help it hold interest better than many SUVs in this segment. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain it well, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2019 Toyota 4Runner earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with three-star rollover results.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety equipment is basic: you get airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera, but advanced driver-assistance features are not standard. That means you should not expect the kind of active safety tech that is common on newer SUVs. The main caveat is that the 4Runner’s safety story reflects its age, so you should not assume a modern safety package just because it is a Toyota SUV.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers standout off-road capability with a powerful engine and lots of cargo space.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $34,708, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $31,485 average.
• It adds standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the lower price and the classic 4Runner formula, the 2019 is the better value. If you are willing to pay more for standard safety tech, the 2020 is the smarter upgrade. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2019 remains the more compelling buy as long as you verify history and condition carefully.

How does the 2019 Toyota 4Runner compare to the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Our experts score the 2019 Toyota 4Runner 7.2/10 and the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6.7/10.

The 4Runner is the more specialized off-road choice, while the Grand Cherokee offers stronger on-road efficiency and a lower average used price. You should lean toward the 4Runner if rugged capability and proven durability matter most, but the Grand Cherokee makes more sense if you want a broader daily-driving balance. The 4Runner also has fewer listings, so the Jeep gives you more inventory to shop.
