What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Tesla Model S?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report so you can confirm accident status and spot any red flags before you get too far into the process. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the charging system, software behavior, and overall condition, since charging time and build quality are recurring concerns. It also helps to focus on how the car presents in person, because fit, finish, and prior use can matter a lot on a used EV like this.

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

The current average of $28,895 sits slightly above last year's $28,636.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed relatively stable, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price trend can support resale confidence because it shows buyers are still willing to pay around current levels for a well-kept example. The model’s strong owner satisfaction also helps keep demand healthy among used EV shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Tesla Model S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2019 is a strong choice if you want a used Model S with solid owner satisfaction, stable pricing, and a decent pool of listings to compare. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to look at nearby years and compare condition closely, since the best value often comes down to finding the cleanest example at the lowest price rather than choosing by model year alone.
