Is the 2019 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Subaru Outback earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights dependable everyday use, with owners calling out the Outback’s smooth ride, safety equipment, and confidence in challenging climates. That said, some buyers mention maintenance attention between oil changes, so you should still look closely at service history and overall upkeep.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the vehicle has been maintained consistently and hasn’t accumulated avoidable wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Subaru Outback?

At 72.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection to check for prior body damage, paint mismatch, and signs of uneven wear. Focus especially on exterior condition and maintenance records so you can separate a clean, well-kept example from one that has been used hard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru Outback?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,855 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,543, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $17,549 sits slightly below last year's $18,979.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and maintenance history will matter even more because buyers will have plenty of comparable listings to choose from.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $15,585, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $17,549 average.
• It emphasizes practical capability and everyday usefulness.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,418, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,549 average.
• It adds a more modern cabin and updated tech.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the best all-around pick if you want a well-liked, well-equipped Outback at a softer price than newer models. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2018 is the value play; if you want newer tech and can spend more, the 2020 is the upgrade path.
