The 2019 Legacy’s appeal centers on standard AWD, a comfortable ride, and a long list of safety features, which makes it feel like a practical, confidence-oriented choice. Its straightforward mission and emphasis on safety help it fit buyers who want a dependable daily driver with all-weather traction. What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Subaru Legacy?

At 64.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, repair quality, and signs of wear that could affect long-term ownership costs.

If you find a listing below $15,925, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $15,999 sits slightly below last year's $17,015.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale may depend heavily on how well you preserve the car’s condition and documentation. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records organized, you give yourself a better chance of recovering more value later. The Legacy’s practical appeal and safety-first identity should continue to support demand among used buyers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $17,678, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $15,999 average.
• It adds a more mainstream interior and updated technology.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with strong owner satisfaction and a broad inventory pool. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year and want the updated cabin and tech direction, the 2020 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize those changes over price.
