Used 2019 Nissan Maxima for Sale nearMilwaukee, WI

How much does the 2019 Nissan Maxima cost?

Prices have softened 8.80% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 496 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Nissan Maxima a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Nissan Maxima earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, stylish appearance, and comfortable interior. The review summary also points to good handling and plush leather seats, which reinforce the car’s upscale, easy-to-live-with character.

The trade-offs are familiar: outdated technology and a potentially polarizing design. In practical terms, that means you should like the Maxima’s comfort and personality enough to overlook some older-feeling tech.

For shoppers who want a comfortable, stylish sedan with a strong driving personality, it fits that use case well. There are 30.2% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Nissan Maxima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as powerful, comfortable, and enjoyable to drive, and the review summary also points to a car that feels good to live with over time. The expert evaluation adds that the Maxima remains a solid value and one of the few 6-cylinder sedans from a non-luxury brand.

That said, used buyers should still watch for signs of wear, especially on higher-mileage examples, because older technology and minor quality concerns can show up with age. A careful inspection and service-history review are smart before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Nissan Maxima?

At 49.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the car’s features work as expected, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been kept.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S skips navigation, while higher trims add more upscale materials and equipment; the SV brings a stronger feature mix, and the Platinum Reserve adds the most luxurious interior treatment.
• Powertrain: A 3.5-liter V6 with 300 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque is paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive, and the setup is tuned for smooth, immediate power delivery.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-emergency braking, a driver-attention monitor, and knee airbags for both front occupants; the SV adds blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control, the SR adds pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning, and Platinum models add reverse emergency braking.
• Infotainment: Most trims get updated navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a customizable home screen, and a high-speed USB-C port; the base S does not come with navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The Maxima is rated at 20 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, with 24 mpg combined.

Which 2019 Nissan Maxima trim should I buy?

The 2019 Nissan Maxima is offered in 6 trim levels: S, SV, SR, SL, Platinum, Platinum Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but it misses navigation, so it makes the most sense only if you want the lowest-cost way into the Maxima nameplate.
• SV: This is the best-value trim because it adds blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control while keeping the Maxima’s core comfort and tech strengths intact.
• SR: Choose this if you want the sportier setup, including a firmer ride and added driver aids such as pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning.
• SL: This trim is the right middle ground if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top-end luxury-focused versions.
• Platinum: This is the better pick if you want the most complete safety and comfort mix, including reverse emergency braking.
• Platinum Reserve: This is the luxury choice, with the richest interior treatment and the most premium presentation.

Close attention to the safety-package differences matters here, especially because the base trim leaves out navigation and some of the higher-trim driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Nissan Maxima?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 496 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.80% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 49.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,647, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Nissan Maxima's resale value?

The current average of $16,647 sits slightly below last year's $18,254.

That decline suggests the Maxima has softened in the used market, which can help you as a buyer but may limit what you recover later as a seller. If you plan to resell, the best protection is buying well, keeping mileage reasonable, and choosing a clean, well-documented example.

Because the model still has strong owner satisfaction, demand should remain steady among shoppers who want a comfortable, powerful sedan. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Nissan Maxima safe?

The 2019 Nissan Maxima earns an IIHS Top Safety Pick rating and five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, with four-star ratings for the front-passenger side in a frontal crash and the side-impact pole test, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward-emergency braking, a driver-attention monitor, and knee airbags for both the driver and front passenger. The SV adds blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control, the SR adds pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning, and Platinum models add reverse emergency braking.

One caveat is that the Maxima does not offer ProPilot Assist, so you do not get Nissan’s semi-automated highway driving suite here.

Should I buy a 2019 Nissan Maxima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 refresh brought updated style, technology, and interior features.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $16,787, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,647 average.
• It keeps the refreshed formula with only minimal changes.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the stronger buy because it already reflects the refresh and sits at a lower average price. If you are willing to pay a bit more for a newer model year with the same basic formula, the 2020 is the simpler alternative.
