Is the 2019 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.53/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly describes the Frontier as reliable, rugged, and dependable, with many owners saying it meets their basic needs without trouble. That kind of long-term confidence matters if you want a used truck you can count on for regular use.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about complexity and more about finding a well-kept example that has been maintained consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Nissan Frontier?

At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from trucks with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, frame, and mechanical condition, since a pickup’s usefulness depends heavily on how it was treated. Focus on signs of wear that could affect long-term durability, especially if the truck was used for work or towing.

If you find a listing below $17,863, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $18,489 sits slightly below last year's $19,630.

That softer pricing suggests the Frontier is in a buyer-friendly phase now, but it can also help future sellers if they buy at the right entry point. If you purchase near the lower end of the range, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation exposure later. The truck’s steady demand from value-focused shoppers should help support used-market interest over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.53/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.53/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $21,127, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $18,489 average.
• It adds a new engine and transmission for a stronger powertrain.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the primary path because it combines lower pricing with strong owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer powertrain, the 2020 is the better secondary choice for price-sensitive buyers who still want a simple, capable pickup.
