CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Summary
With 1,235 currently listed for sale and an average price of $27,825, 34.7% of 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class 4.67 / 5 stars.
64.2% of 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class stands out as a luxury mid-size car that blends comfort, technology, and prestige in a way that has long defined the nameplate. It is described as a benchmark luxury sedan that pushes technical innovation, and it remains a safe, solid choice that gives buyers a lot of comfort and prestige for the money. For this generation, the E-Class also leans heavily into a high-tech, upscale feel, with advanced safety and luxury features and a cabin that was designed to feel especially modern.
What makes the 2019 model distinctive is the breadth of its lineup and the way it packages performance and refinement. The range includes rear-wheel drive and 4Matic all-wheel drive versions, along with mild-hybrid technology on the standard models and a nine-speed automatic transmission. The available engines span a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 295 horsepower and a 3.0-liter inline-six with 369 horsepower, while the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid brings 577 horsepower, 553 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 mph time of less than four seconds. Reviewers also praised its luxurious feel, smooth ride, and strong performance, though some noted that the interior design is starting to show its age.
There are tradeoffs, as with any used luxury car. The E-Class is expensive, even by class standards, and fuel economy for some of the larger-engined versions is fairly poor. Still, for buyers who want a used sedan that feels substantial, comfortable, and richly equipped, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class remains appealing because it combines everyday usability with the kind of refinement and performance that helped make the E-Class such an enduring benchmark.

Solid as a rock. A real cruiser, pretty low to the ground but the interior is as impeccable as an Italian suit. Except it is German! Quiet, composed and no one can tell how old it is. Bought it as a second car, and it shines. Run flats are noisy, may need different tires but so far that’s it. Get one that has been cared for.

How much does the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $27,521 |
| Year-Round Low | $27,078 |
| Year-Round High | $28,972 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $28,504 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −3.45% |
Prices have softened 3.45% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,229 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?
Yes — the 4.67/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Reviewers consistently praise its luxurious feel, smooth ride, and powerful performance, and many also highlight its handling and comfort. For you, that means it fits especially well if you want a used luxury mid-size car that blends everyday usability with prestige and a high-tech cabin. With 37.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also enough market activity to help you shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback also emphasizes that it feels dependable in daily use, with many owners describing it as smooth, trouble-free, and worth keeping for the long term. The strongest reliability takeaway is that satisfaction remains high even with the car’s luxury positioning and performance focus. For used buyers, that suggests the bigger ownership risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about how well a specific example has been maintained.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury car where repair costs can add up quickly. Focus on overall condition, maintenance evidence, and signs of wear in the cabin and electronics, since those areas matter most on a used premium sedan.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.
- Deal availability: 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,229 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.45% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,078, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?
The current average of $27,521 sits slightly below last year's $28,504.
That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the range and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it is time to resell. Demand should remain supported by the model’s luxury reputation and broad appeal among used shoppers.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.45% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $22,993, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $27,521 average.
- It emphasizes refinement and a premium driving experience.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $30,283, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $27,521 average.
- It adds a new base engine and broader body-style appeal.
The bottom line: The 2019 is the best all-around choice if you want a strong mix of satisfaction, pricing, and market availability. If your priority is spending less, the 2018 is the better value-oriented path. If you want to stretch for a newer model and can justify the higher price, the 2020 is the alternative to compare.
