Why it stands out
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class stands out as a luxury mid-size car that blends comfort, technology, and prestige in a way that has long defined the nameplate. It is part of the fifth generation, which was introduced in 2016 as a sedan, with wagon versions following later the same year. That generation gave the E-Class a more S-Class-like appearance, and inside it moved to a swoopy, curvy dashboard with circular air vents and, in most versions, two side-by-side 12.3-inch display screens that create the look of one large screen. Standard equipment was generous even on the least expensive models, with electric adjustment for the steering wheel and front seats, a rear-view camera, satellite navigation, LED headlamps, and a wealth of driver-assistance safety features.
For buyers, the appeal of the 2019 E-Class is that it offers a wide spread of powertrains and body styles without losing its upscale character. The range included rear-wheel-drive and 4Matic all-wheel-drive versions, along with turbocharged four-cylinder, six-cylinder, and AMG performance models. Mercedes-AMG versions were especially notable for their pace, and the model line also benefited from air suspension on AMG cars and as an option on others. Used pricing for this generation spans a wide range, reflecting how differently equipped individual cars can be, and that variety is part of the E-Class’s charm.
There are a few caveats, though. Some owners have reported juddering brakes and glitchy infotainment systems, and the only major problem mentioned in the source is a potential fault with early E300 models that could lead to a cracked piston. Even so, the fifth-generation E-Class is described as beautifully built and generally reliable, which helps explain why it remains such a strong choice for shoppers who want a used luxury sedan that feels substantial, modern, and well equipped.

Solid as a rock. A real cruiser, pretty low to the ground but the interior is as impeccable as an Italian suit. Except it is German! Quiet, composed and no one can tell how old it is. Bought it as a second car, and it shines. Run flats are noisy, may need different tires but so far that’s it. Get one that has been cared for.

| Year-Round Low | $27,042 |
| Year-Round High | $28,879 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $28,879 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.18% |

There are 1,208 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?
Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The model’s upscale character also fits buyers who want a luxury mid-size car with comfort, technology, and prestige. With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Reviewers describe it as reliable, and the model is also characterized as beautifully built and generally dependable. That said, used buyers should still plan for age-related ownership risk and verify maintenance history carefully, especially on higher-mileage examples.

At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.
- Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,208 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.18% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 60.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,042, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?
The current average of $27,096 sits slightly below last year's $28,879.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make resale a little less favorable than it was a year ago. If you buy now, your future value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. Strong examples with clean history and desirable equipment should hold up better than neglected ones.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.18% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $22,660, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $27,096 average.
- It delivers a polished, upscale luxury experience.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $29,626, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $27,096 average.
- It adds a newer base engine and a more decadent, option-rich feel.
The bottom line: The 2019 is the best fit if you want a well-liked, well-equipped luxury sedan at a softened market price. If your priority is saving money, the 2018 is the better value play; if you want to spend more for a newer model-year experience, the 2020 is the natural step up.
