How much does the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 cost?

Prices have softened 3.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 570 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the comfortable driving experience, smooth ride, upscale interior features, performance, and handling. That lines up well with the overview: you’re looking at a compact car that feels more refined and more engaging than basic transportation.

The main trade-offs are an unintuitive technology setup and a cramped back seat. Even so, the car’s upscale feel and driving enjoyment make it a strong fit if you value refinement and fun over maximum space or convenience.

With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a comfortable, smooth, and trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers also highlighting the car’s upscale feel and performance. That kind of praise suggests you can count on it for everyday use if you choose a well-kept example.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes composed, athletic driving manners and a solid, confidence-inspiring feel on the road. The cost-effectiveness discussion adds that the car delivers a lot of content for the money, which supports the case for long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about the car’s character and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t picked up hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mazda MAZDA3?

At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a car with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on condition, because the model’s appeal depends heavily on how well the interior, technology, and driving feel have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base sedan is lighter on content than the base hatchback, while the hatchback adds 18-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beams, dual-zone automatic climate control, a drowsiness alert, synthetic leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a leather-wrapped shift knob. The Preferred trims add an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, power-adjustable side mirrors, satellite radio, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system. The Premium trims add leather seats, a power moonroof, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, and the manual transmission. The base hatchback is the best-value trim.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 186 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. AWD is only available with the automatic transmission.
• Safety package: Mazda’s i-Activsense suite includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and driver-attention alerts. It comes standard on the base hatchback, but not on the base sedan, where you need to move up to the Select Sedan trim for many of those features.
• Infotainment: The car uses an 8.8-inch MazdaConnect screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is remote-controlled rather than touch-operated.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version returns 27 mpg city, 36 highway, 30 combined. The least efficient version returns 24/32/27. Other versions return 25/33/28, 25/35/29, and 26/35/30. In testing, the car returned 28.2 mpg.

Which 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 is offered in 4 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Premium, and Select.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the trim to target if you want the best balance of price and equipment. It picks up much of the useful content missing from the base sedan, and it’s the gateway to the broader safety and convenience features that make the car feel more complete.
• Preferred: This trim adds meaningful comfort upgrades like the power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and the Bose audio system. It makes sense if you want a more premium daily driver without jumping all the way to the top.
• Premium: This is the choice if you want the fullest luxury-like experience, including leather seats, a moonroof, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, and the manual transmission. It’s the most feature-rich version, but not the best value for most shoppers.

The base hatchback is the CarGurus Recommended Trim, and the safety suite is standard on the base hatchback but not the base sedan.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mazda MAZDA3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 570 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,924, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3's resale value?

The current average of $16,754 sits slightly below last year's $17,387.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already moved into a more buyer-friendly part of its depreciation curve. If you buy well and keep the car in good condition, you may be able to limit further value loss better than you would with a less desirable compact car.

The car’s upscale feel, strong owner satisfaction, and broad appeal should help support demand when it’s time to sell. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment are likely to hold attention better than stripped or heavily worn ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 safe?

The 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s i-Activsense suite includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and driver-attention alerts. Those features are standard on the base hatchback, but not on the base sedan, so trim choice matters if safety equipment is a priority.

The safety discussion also notes that the hatchback’s large C-pillars create big blind spots, and the parking-brake behavior can feel unintuitive. That doesn’t erase the car’s strong safety case, but it does mean you should pay attention to visibility and learn the controls before you buy.

Should I buy a 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 redesign pushes the Mazda3 closer to near-luxury territory.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $17,835, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,754 average.
• It adds a more premium-feeling take on the redesigned Mazda3.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because pricing has eased and the car already delivers the upscale, fun-to-drive character that defines this generation. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer example, the 2020 is the cleaner alternative, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2019 and shop for a well-kept, well-equipped listing.
