Used 2019 Mazda CX-9 for Sale nearTrenton, NJ

How much does the 2019 Mazda CX-9 cost?

Prices have softened 6.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 551 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Mazda CX-9 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Mazda CX-9 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its performance, handling, and luxurious-feeling features at a competitive price, along with the spacious interior and safety features that make it practical for families. The main trade-offs are outdated technology in lower trims and a wish for more advanced options.

That lines up with the broader use case: you’re looking at a three-row SUV that leans more premium and more engaging to drive than purely utilitarian rivals, while still serving family duty well. With 32.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Mazda CX-9 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle people feel good about living with over time, especially because it combines family usefulness with a premium feel and safety features. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that Mazda’s turbocharged drivetrain delivers strong torque and that the CX-9 can feel rewarding to drive when you stay within its strengths.

Mazda also highlights a practical ownership perk in the tech and ownership experience, including E911 service and a well-integrated infotainment setup. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s age, technology, and ergonomics still fit your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mazda CX-9?

At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible cosmetic wear. Focus on how the cabin has held up, whether the controls and seating position work for you, and whether any prior damage affected alignment, panel fit, or interior condition.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature. The Signature trim adds creamy Nappa leather upholstery, real wood trim, and other upscale details, while the Sport trim shows more obvious cost-cutting in hard and glossy lower plastic panels and simpler fittings.
• Powertrain: The CX-9 uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. It delivers 250 hp on premium fuel, with strong low-speed response and 310 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,000 rpm, but passing power can feel limited once you’re already up to speed.
• Safety package: Mazda’s driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies are available across the lineup, with Sport standard on low-speed automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. An option package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, pedestrian detection, full-speed-range automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and rain-sensing wipers; those features are standard on other versions.
• Infotainment: Mazda Connect includes a touchscreen that works only when the vehicle is stationary, plus control through the center console, steering wheel, and voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system also offers E911 service.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle returned 19.9 mpg in combined driving, and the CX-9 should have returned 23 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2019 Mazda CX-9 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mazda CX-9 is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Signature.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the CX-9’s core style and driving character at the lowest price. It’s the trim to consider if you want the model’s look and handling without paying for the more upscale cabin materials.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it moves you beyond the base setup while staying below the luxury-focused upper trims. It’s the sensible middle ground if you want more equipment without chasing the highest-priced versions.
• Grand Touring: This trim is for you if you want a more premium-feeling CX-9 with more comfort and convenience content. It suits buyers who care about a richer daily driving experience and are willing to pay more for it.
• Signature: This is the top trim and the one to choose if you want the most upscale presentation. It adds creamy Nappa leather upholstery, real wood trim, and other premium details that make the cabin feel closest to a luxury SUV.

Regardless of trim, Mazda says the important driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies can be fitted across the lineup, and those features are standard on all versions above Sport.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mazda CX-9?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 551 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.13% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,114, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $18,144 sits slightly below last year's $19,329.

That decline suggests the CX-9 has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you should expect a market that rewards clean condition, strong equipment, and a well-documented history more than simple age alone. If you buy carefully now, you may be better positioned to preserve value later by choosing a desirable trim and keeping the vehicle in good shape.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Mazda CX-9 safe?

The 2019 Mazda CX-9 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and five-star ratings from the federal government, though it also receives four-star ratings for frontal-impact protection for the driver and front passenger.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda says any CX-9 can be fitted with the most important driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies. Sport comes standard with low-speed automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert, while an option package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, pedestrian detection, full-speed-range automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and more. Those features are standard on all other versions.

The main caveat is the frontal-impact result, which is worth keeping in mind if safety is your top priority. Even so, the CX-9’s overall safety package remains one of its strongest selling points.

Should I buy a 2019 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its roomy and safe family-sized three-row layout, plus a premium-feeling design and strong handling.

The bottom line: If you want the CX-9’s upscale styling, engaging road manners, and family-friendly cabin at a lower used price, the 2019 is a smart target. If you’re shopping mainly on price, you can also use the softer market to compare nearby years and trims, but the 2019 remains appealing because it balances value, safety, and driving character well.

How does the 2019 Mazda CX-9 compare to the 2019 Honda Pilot?

Our experts score the 2019 Mazda CX-9 7/10 and the 2019 Honda Pilot 8.3/10.

The CX-9 is the better pick if you care more about style, handling, and a more premium-feeling cabin. The Pilot has the stronger overall expert score and a larger used-market footprint, while the CX-9 offers a lower average used price and a more polished driving character. If you want the more engaging SUV, the Mazda makes sense; if you want the broader all-around family choice, the Honda has the edge.
