Used 2019 MINI Cooper for Sale nearSalt Lake City, UT

How much does the 2019 MINI Cooper cost?

Prices have softened 5.88% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 443 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 MINI Cooper a good car?

Yes — the 2019 MINI Cooper earns a 4.56/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise the fun driving experience, sporty performance, stylish design, and unique personality. The overview also frames it as a car for you if you want something stylish and fun rather than purely practical, with the go-kart-like feel as part of the appeal.

The trade-offs are clear: advanced safety features are not standard, the technology can be unintuitive, and value for money is weak. That makes it a better fit if you care more about character and driving enjoyment than everyday practicality.

With 35.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 MINI Cooper reliable?

Owners rate it 4.56/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a car that feels fun, sporty, and distinctive while also being something many drivers enjoy living with over time. It also suggests the MINI’s personality and driving enjoyment are part of what keeps owners happy.

The expert notes reinforce that this is a car you can count on for engaging driving, with a lively, smile-inducing character. The cost-effectiveness commentary also suggests the car makes sense for buyers who value personality and customization, which helps explain why some owners stay satisfied despite the compromises.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the car’s appeal depends heavily on whether you can live with its space, tech, and value trade-offs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 MINI Cooper?

At 71.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you get too far into the process, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the car has any accident history. Focus on bodywork quality, panel alignment, and signs of repair, since condition matters a lot on a small car where cosmetic issues are easy to spot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The John Cooper Works version is the standout performance-focused choice, while the Classic trim is described as the best fit if you want the car basic and focused. The base setup also lacks the more robust safety equipment many shoppers expect, so feature gaps matter more here than on some rivals.
• Powertrain: The John Cooper Works model uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 228 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. It delivers the strongest acceleration and the most engaging driving character, especially if you want the manual transmission.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, and a speed-limit information system. Adaptive cruise control is available with the Driver Assistance Package, which also adds Parking Assistant and front parking sensors.
• Infotainment: The top-level system uses an 8.8-inch display with navigation and MINI Connected Services. It supports voice control, touchscreen input, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging, but Android Auto is not available.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-economy figure is stated in the available data.

Which 2019 MINI Cooper trim should I buy?

The 2019 MINI Cooper is offered in 2 trim levels: Cooper S and John Cooper Works.

Here's the short version:

• Cooper S: This is the trim to target if you want the MINI experience with a more balanced setup and a lower entry point than the hottest version. The expert notes suggest keeping it simple, and the Classic trim recommendation points toward a focused, less complicated configuration that suits the car’s personality best.
• John Cooper Works: This is the best-value trim if you want the most power, the sharpest handling, and the strongest performance character. It adds the most aggressive driving experience and is the trim the expert specifically calls out as especially fitting for the car’s mission.

The safety package is limited overall, and adaptive cruise control remains part of the Driver Assistance Package rather than standard equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 MINI Cooper?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 443 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,553, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 MINI Cooper's resale value?

The current average of $16,415 sits slightly below last year's $17,440.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability rather than on broad market appreciation.

Because the price range has softened, a well-kept example with the right equipment may hold up better than a neglected one. Strong presentation and a clean history matter more when the model’s appeal is tied so closely to personality and enthusiast interest.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.56/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 MINI Cooper safe?

The MINI Cooper earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, including three-star rear seat occupant protection in a side-impact collision. It was also a Top Safety Pick in 2018, though it lost that rating when IIHS updated its requirements in 2019.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety setup includes eight airbags, a reversing camera, and Active Driving Assistant, which brings forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, and a speed-limit information system. Adaptive cruise control is available, but only with the Driver Assistance Package, which also adds Parking Assistant and front parking sensors.

The main caveat is that blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist are not offered. That makes careful lane changes and parking awareness especially important in a used example.

Should I buy a 2019 MINI Cooper or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.56/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The John Cooper Works trim is especially fitting for the car’s sporty mission.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $18,679, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,415 average.
• It adds an electric powertrain option.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter buy because prices have eased and there are enough listings to shop selectively. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model with an electric option, the 2020 is the better path.
