Used 2022 MINI Cooper for Sale nearSalt Lake City, UT

How much does the 2022 MINI Cooper cost?

Prices have softened 3.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 480 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper a good car?

Yes — 5/5 from users and 5.17/10 from experts point to a car that strongly appeals if you want personality and customization. The 2022 MINI Cooper is built around BMW-based engineering, BMW engines, and BMW technology, and it leans hard into premium small-car character rather than generic transportation.

The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Its biggest strengths are its distinctive design, broad personalization, and more advanced tech for the year. The trade-offs are just as clear: the base engine is underwhelming, cargo space is limited, and value for money is not one of its strengths.

For buyers who want a small car that feels tailored and distinctive, that mix can still make sense. 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2022 MINI Cooper’s appeal comes from its BMW-based engineering and its emphasis on personalization, and the expert review also describes it as fuel-efficient.

The performance notes point to a turbocharged setup with a choice of manual or dual-clutch automatic transmissions, which gives you flexibility depending on how you want to drive. The cost-effectiveness commentary also suggests that once you accept the premium pricing, the car can feel worthwhile for the right buyer.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that its charm does not erase the practical compromises, so you should be sure the car’s condition and equipment match what you expect to live with.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 MINI Cooper?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper paper trail. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on condition, wear, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim and options you want. Since this model is all about personalization, make sure the specific car you’re considering has the features you care about most.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup emphasizes personalization, with a wide range of colors, materials, wheels, packages, and options, and the base setup is less compelling than better-equipped versions.
• Powertrain: The Cooper uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, while the Cooper S upgrades to a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder; the stronger engine is the better fit if you want more urgency.
• Safety package: Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. Adaptive cruise control is available only with an automatic transmission, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not available.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and BMW-based connected services; Android Auto is not available.
• Fuel efficiency: The Cooper is described as fuel-efficient, and the Cooper S test car returned 26 mpg in combined driving, with a tested result of 27.1 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2022 MINI Cooper trim should I buy?

The 2022 MINI Cooper is offered in 3 trim levels: Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works.

Here's the short version:

• Cooper: This is the entry point, but the base engine is described as underwhelming, so it makes the most sense if you care more about price and personality than pace.
• Cooper S: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds the stronger turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and delivers the more satisfying balance of performance and everyday usability.
• John Cooper Works: Choose this if you want the most power and the most enthusiast-focused version of the lineup.

Driving Assistant is standard, but adaptive cruise control is limited to automatic-transmission cars, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not available.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 MINI Cooper?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 480 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,267, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 MINI Cooper's resale value?

The current average of $23,082 sits slightly below last year's $23,938.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more carefully now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market momentum alone.

Because this model has strong owner satisfaction, demand should remain supported among shoppers who want its distinctive character. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper safe?

The 2022 MINI Cooper does not have published crash-test ratings from NHTSA or IIHS, so there is no official crash-test lead to cite here.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. Adaptive cruise control is available with an automatic transmission and can bring the car to a full stop for 2022.

A blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert is not available, which is worth keeping in mind because visibility can be challenging with the top raised.

Should I buy a 2022 MINI Cooper or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds more advanced tech and personalization to the MINI formula.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,608, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,082 average.
• It adds new features and brings back a manual transmission option.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,579, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $23,082 average.
• It adds a limited-run Resolute Edition and new paint colors.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and updated tech, the 2022 is the smart default. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is the cheaper path, while the 2023 makes sense only if you want to pay more for the newer-year extras.
