How much does the 2019 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 9.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,688 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and conditions.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Kia Sorento earns a 4.62/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.

You get a strong mix of a comfortable ride, spacious interior, and good value, and owners also consistently call out the third-row seating and smooth road manners. In context, that lines up well with its family-focused setup and roomy cabin, especially if you want a midsize SUV that feels more upscale than basic transportation.

The market also shows 32.3% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers repeatedly describe the Sorento as comfortable, spacious, and a good value, and those themes usually go hand in hand with a vehicle people feel they can count on over time. The expert review also emphasizes the Sorento’s class-leading warranty and roadside assistance coverage, which adds confidence for ownership.

That said, some owners mention concerns with certain engine options, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and how the powertrain feels on a test drive. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a poorly maintained example or a trim whose equipment and engine combination doesn’t match your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Kia Sorento?

At 62.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a prior claim. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re looking at.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The L starts the lineup, while LX, EX, SX, and SX Limited add progressively more equipment. The base L is the most stripped-down version, and the EX is the popular choice because it brings a robust V6 engine, nicer wheels, leather seats, and most of the safety technologies.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a standard 185-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder on L and LX trims and an available 290-horsepower 3.3-liter V6 that is optional on LX and standard on EX, SX, and SX Limited. The V6 is the stronger choice if you want smoother, quicker acceleration.
• Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are included on all versions except the base L. The EX adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and UVO eServices safety features. Lane-keeping assist and driver-attention monitoring are standard on EX, SX, and SX Limited.
• Infotainment: The L and LX use a 7-inch touchscreen with a reversing camera, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. EX adds UVO eServices, while SX and SX Limited get an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation, and the top system adds a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The review notes 20.7 mpg during testing and an official 21 mpg combined rating for the V6-equipped test vehicle.

Which 2019 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2019 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX, SX Limited.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest purchase price and can live with the most basic equipment. It gets the 7-inch touchscreen, reversing camera, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, but it misses the broader safety and convenience content found higher up the range.
• LX: This trim adds more flexibility because it can be paired with the available V6, making it a better fit if you want stronger performance without jumping all the way to the upper trims. It still keeps the Sorento relatively accessible while opening the door to more capability.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It brings the V6, leather seats, nicer wheels, and most of the safety technologies, plus UVO eServices and the broader driver-assistance suite, so it strikes the strongest balance of price and equipment.
• SX: This trim is for you if you want a more premium feel and more tech. It gets the larger 8-inch touchscreen with navigation, the top eServices system, the Harman Kardon audio setup, and standard wireless charging, while also keeping the stronger V6 setup.
• SX Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, adding the 360-degree surround-view camera as standard and the most upscale cabin presentation. It makes sense if you want the most features and are willing to pay for them.

The safety-package sweet spot is the EX, since it gets the most complete driver-assistance content without pushing you into the highest-priced trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,688 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,734, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $13,757 sits slightly below last year's $15,129.

That decline suggests the Sorento has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, condition, mileage, and whether the vehicle has a clean history.

Because the market still shows meaningful deal activity, well-kept examples should remain competitive if they’re priced realistically. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2019 Kia Sorento gets top marks from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sorento’s safety package centers on blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert on all versions except the base L. The EX adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and UVO eServices safety features. Lane-keeping assist and driver-attention monitoring are standard on EX, SX, and SX Limited trims.

Should I buy a 2019 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its updated styling, strong safety tech, and class-leading warranty coverage.

The bottom line: If you want a well-rounded used Sorento with strong safety, good owner satisfaction, and a softer price than last year, the 2019 is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also use the broader market to compare nearby model years, but the 2019 remains a compelling choice when you want the best mix of features, value, and confidence.
