Before buying my 2019 Kia Sorento LX, I did days of research and watched many review videos and read tons of articles on this specific year and model. I am highly satisfied with this vehicle. Everything I researched and watched are spot on! My Sorento LX has the V6, 8 speed Auto transmission and I find it very responsive, not sluggish at all. I am very pleased with all the features, except, that it does not have heated seats, thats really my only complaint. I have lower back issues and heated seats would have been perfect. Its a great car otherwise and I highly recommend.

How much does the 2019 Kia Sorento cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,845 |
| Year-Round Low | $13,845 |
| Year-Round High | $15,442 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $15,439 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −10.33% |
Prices have softened 10.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,679 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2019 Kia Sorento a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Kia Sorento earns a 4.62/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.
Drivers consistently praise its comfortable ride, spacious interior, and strong value, and many also like the third-row seating and smooth road manners. The overview points to a family-friendly SUV with a stylish, even luxurious feel, plenty of room for a family of four, and a class-leading warranty and roadside assistance program.
With 30.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.
Is the 2019 Kia Sorento reliable?
Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a dependable-feeling SUV with a comfortable ride, spacious cabin, and strong value, and it also highlights the way the Sorento feels smooth on the road. The expert review adds to that impression by describing the SUV as solid and silent on the highway and particularly robust on the road thanks to its high-strength-steel structure.
You also get a strong ownership cushion from the 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, the 5-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, and roadside assistance coverage, which helps reduce long-term risk for used buyers.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Kia Sorento?
At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on condition differences between trims, since some versions add meaningful safety and convenience equipment while the base model leaves out key driver-assistance features.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup starts with the L and moves up through LX, EX, SX, and SX Limited. The EX is the most popular version and adds a V6, nicer wheels, leather seats, and most of the safety technologies, while the SX Limited brings the most upscale cabin treatment and premium materials.
- Powertrain: You get a standard 185-horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder on the L and LX, while the 290-horsepower, 3.3-liter V6 is optional on the LX and standard on the EX, SX, and SX Limited. The V6 is the stronger choice if you want smoother acceleration and more confident passing power.
- Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are included on all versions except the base L. The EX adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and driver-attention monitoring. Those features are standard on the EX, SX, and SX Limited, so the base trim is the one with the biggest safety gap.
- Infotainment: The L and LX use a 7-inch touchscreen with a reversing camera, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. EX trim adds UVO eServices with a free 5-year service plan, while SX and SX Limited get an 8-inch touchscreen, SiriusXM traffic data, HD Radio, and wireless charging; the top system also pairs with a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio setup.
- Fuel efficiency: During testing, the Sorento returned 20.7 mpg, and the official combined rating was 21 mpg. That gives you a useful real-world benchmark if you’re comparing V6-equipped examples.
Which 2019 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?
The 2019 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX, and SX Limited.
Here's the short version:
- L: This is the entry point, but it leaves out blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, so it makes the most sense only if you’re shopping strictly on price.
- LX: This trim adds the next step up in equipment and can be paired with the V6, making it a better starting point if you want more flexibility without jumping too far up the price ladder.
- EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it combines the V6, leather seats, nicer wheels, and most of the safety technologies, along with UVO eServices features.
- SX: This trim builds on the EX with more premium tech and convenience equipment, including the larger infotainment setup and available surround-view camera.
- SX Limited: This is the most luxurious choice, with the richest cabin materials, standard top-tier tech, and the most complete feature set.
The EX is the trim that best balances equipment and value, while the SX Limited is the pick if you want the most upscale version. Safety features are most complete on the EX, SX, and SX Limited, while the base L misses some important driver-assistance equipment.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Kia Sorento?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,679 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.33% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 62.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,845, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Kia Sorento's resale value?
The current average of $13,845 sits slightly below last year's $15,439.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to preserve value than someone who pays near the top of the range.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Kia Sorento safe?
The 2019 Kia Sorento gets top marks from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
The Sorento includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert on all versions except the base L. The EX adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and driver-attention monitoring, and those features are standard on the EX, SX, and SX Limited.
Should I buy a 2019 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.33% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2019 stands out for its updated styling, strong safety tech, and a class-leading warranty-backed ownership story.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, safety, and family-friendly equipment, the 2019 is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years, but the 2019’s softer pricing and strong feature set make it the primary year to focus on.
